Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

Any recommendations on what brands I should look into for car seat, carraige, stroller combo? Ive seen the prices for the Orbit and Stokke strollers...But not sure if the common brands like Graco are just as good. Either way, I just want to make sure we purchase one that is good.

We have the Graco click connect system and we have had no complaints. Got the one with the carrier, stroller and base and then got an extra base for my car for like $50 or something. I definitely wouldn't consider Graco a low/cheap brand because they are popular. There is a reason many have and recommend them.

Now I am about to get little man that Recaro car seat for the whip when he turns 1 next month  :smokin

We went with the Britax stroller, infant carrier combo. Also got an extra base for my wife's car. Once he outgrew the carrier, we got a Britax convertible car seat.

Whatever you do, you should definitely look at one of those all in one systems first.

I didnt and I am totally regretting it. I am up to my teeth in car seats and strollers. I had my kid in a Graco infant car seat with an extra base in my wifes car. When she outgrew that we went with a Britax convertible seat. Now that I have another little one, I have the Britax (2 total) and the Graco base in both cars. Our stroller situation is a mess. We have a single Bob jogging stroller that we use as the everyday stroller for my oldest. Since my youngest is still in her Graco infant seat, we just use a Graco click and go to push her around. When we need to stroll around both kids we have a Baby Jogger City Mini side by side tandem stroller. We have a backup tandem stroller that we store at my in laws place for when they are watching the girls. When we are traveling we have a single MacLaren umbrella stroller for my oldest, and the youngest will just go in the ERGO.

I'm sure there was a more efficient way to do it. We probably went the most inefficient way possible.

Yeah, we're leaning towards an All-in-one system. Just trying to decide which brand I should invest in...So many choices.

not sure it applies across the entire platform but of all the stupid gear that I have I really like the Britax the best. Super easy to adjust and install. Seems well made. My Graco stuff just feels a lot cheaper and less sturdy than the Britax.

I got the orbit baby g2 stroller and a recarro car seat.

One thing I like about the orbit is when we go out to eat dinner I can rotate the stroller seat so he can sit at the table like he would be in a highchair.

we got the bugaboo bee stroller and the adapter to slap the graco car seat on. barely even used the stroller because my wife got into tula and kinderpack carriers. soon as he got bigger we switched to a maxi-cosi carseat. stroller is still VNDS

you should try to find a gently used one if you can. Maybe hit up craigslist or even some community facebook groups if available.

Is that recommended to have a new born with used car seats, etc? Maybe thats why you emphasized "gently used" lol

What's good NT...

This lil guy right here almost killed my wife..,it's our second child and this pregnancy was crazy.
My wife ended up having preeclampsia with him, she had 2 seizures and ended up having an emergency c-section 7 weeks early.
After almost a month in the NICU my lil man is finally home.

Everyone this is Jordan Matthew Granza

Wow. Well I'm glad everything is ok bro. Thank goodness your wife is ok and your baby boy is out the NICU safe and sound. We're due with our second in October, another boy, and things like that cross my mind from time to time. But glad all yours is ok. He's beautiful btw.

Thanks bro...that preeclampsia is no joke...I think the scariest part for me was when we got to the hospital and within 10 minutes of us being there my wife had her first siezure...she was lookin at me in the eyes the whole time as it was happeneing, she ended up biting her tongue/cheek so bad that blood was just leaking out of her mouth. The second siezure was even worse my sis thought she was gonna die her eyes were rolling to the back of her head and she was turning purple. But the whole time lil man was fine he wasn't affected at all by her seizing

Man, sorry to hear what your wife and child had to go through. Glad to see your baby boy doing good and your wife is doing well too right?
