Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

This right here. I've been thrown up on, pooped on, peed on so many times, nothing fazes me anymore.
+1

I'm going to try the potty chart as well. Someone also told me to take your kid to the store and let them pick out their own underwear and it will help them? I'll try anything right now.

Ya, potty chart is awesome. We had a whole matrix of rewards for each thing. Started out with 1 M&M for pee, 2 if he went pee by himself without us asking, 3 for poop, 4 for poop by himself. After a while he lost interest, so we bumped it to 10, then 20 M&Ms just for going pee with a lollipop added for going by himself. Then, once he filled his chart we bought a Leap Frog movie as a reward. Kid got 3 movies in a week (18 stickers to fill a chart).

Get the extra thick underwear with the liner in them to help soak up and contain the accidents. It really helps with some of the accidents.

BTW... If you want to put your toddler/preschooler's learning on hyperdrive, buy them the some Leap Frog movies and they'll have their letters, numbers, shapes, colors, & complex words down within a year and have everyone thinking they're a genius. I keep hearing how TV rots kids brains but honestly... he's so far ahead of any of his peers that I'm not buying that if you give them the right stuff. He's already spelling & writing a couple dozen words and can count to 100 with a little help and he turned 3 in June.

My son can't even get it all in the potty when he's sitting down. NO WAY I'm going to teach him to stand up until we can get past that phase.

He'll still play in his room and poop his underwear and not even tell us until we walk in the room sometimes.

We're making progress though. He'll give us the right answer when we ask him what he needs to do. Now it's just a matter of getting him to act on it.

I honestly didn't believe people when they said how bad potty training was. SOO many ways to have accidents I didn't even know were possible. Like literally, my ability to be disgusted by anything is almost entirely gone at this point.

Me working in a group home took care of that once the baby came I was good with it all  My girl loves it because I can change all the poopy diapers when I'm home from work.

That first time my girl and I went at it was great. Since then though she's been on me like crazy. I get home from work and she's ready to go. I love it but man it gets tiring, ain't complaining though.

Fellas my wife delivered our twins on 8/31.

They are healthy, she is healthy. Couldnt ask for anything more. They came at 34 weeks, 4lbs 7ozs and 4lbs 3 ozs

Feeling extremely blessed right now. God is Great! I never felt more compelled to testify or give a testimony in my life... our journey to parenthood is all God. Im so thankful.

"He rotted all his teeth out, but at least he's potty trained!"

Right?!

We figure any rewards we do now will be worth it since we'll be saving ~$30/mo on diapers/pullups and another $200/mo on tuition

We also make sure he gets the "sugar bugs" out every night before bed and morning before school.

Just started teaching my son to pee standing up and it's going better than expected.  I can tell the learning curve will be messy though.  He lost concentration mid stream yesterday and his aim along with it.  Ended up all over the wall and the damn toilet!  My favorite part was when I was showing him how it's done and he looks at me and says, "what's all that black stuff on you?"  I told him, "son, as you get older you're going to start getting hair where you don't want it and start losing hair where you do want it."  I could hear my wife cracking up from the other room...

Hopefully I will be a father one day.

Love being a dad. It's the best thing that's happened to me. My little guy is 2. Shout out to all the real fathers out there. Anyone Can be a dad. But it takes a real man to be a father

Word. Most recent one I can remember my boy shouting out in a public restroom was, "my poop looks like a medium size submarine!"
