Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

Not specifically a dad thing but more of a man thing but I ain't ashamed about my lack of knowledge regarding cars. I hate foolin' with em. I don't like to get my hands dirty and just was never interested in em but thank God for YouTube and the folks who put up tutorials for changing headlights and break lights. Felt like a man's man last night when I changed my headlights. Like straight old school dad mode, like anything was possible (word to KG). By the time my girls get old enough to deal with cars I'll have a decent set of knowledge under my belt
For sure. Learned how to change brakes, serpentine belt, and spark plugs the same way. Youtube is clutch for any DIY thing around the house.

Now if only I would stop putting the oil filter from my wife's car on mine and dumping 5 qts of oil all over the garage I would be straight.

Always good to potna up with neighborhood cats as well.. lil ADHD homie down the street got hella tools for days

As everyone else has said, youtube and google are your friends. You should be able to find a vehicle specific forum too, I've fixed plenty of parts on my Tahoe and wife's Altima using a cheap code reader from amazon and then researching the codes online. Saves you $$$ in the long run b/c the "stealership" will try to get deep in those pockets.

Oh I have a potty update, we decided to trash the pull-ups altogether and I'm proud to say my lil' man is standing up pissing like a grown man now. A few accidents here and there but going all in on wearing underwear really helped. Should have did that from jump could have saved a couple hundred on pull-ups.

^what about overnight?

We only use them overnight for my three year old but sometimes it's dry in the morning...not sure if she pees in them while in bed just cause she knows she can

We have a few that he sleeps in overnight but he's been dry consistently for about 2 weeks almost. Thinking about trying some of those goodnites underwear but unsure if they are just thinner pull ups?

I'm one of the rare ones that actually like my kids to sleep with us...

My 6 year old and my 1 year old sleeps in our bed although my 6 year old moves from our room to her room.  Im pretty sure once I put a TV in her room, she'll be sleeping there consistently...

We have never let our son (2.5 yrs now) sleep in our bed out of fear that he wont leave haha. He is still in his crib too. He was super easy to sleep train. Took about 3/4 nights to get him to sleep through the night. We are sleep training my 6 month old now and it's been 2 full weeks and still working on it.

So on Sunday my son asked about big boy underwear. So we got him some and no put them on him. We told him multiple times that if he needed go, he needed to tell us to take him to the potty. Not a minute went by and i hear him say "i peed" haha. Potty training continues.

First time dad checking in. Wife and I have a 3 week old baby girl and are doing pretty well adjusting, in my opinion. Have a couple general questions for the vets.

Is there such thing as changing a baby's diaper too much? She has been getting diaper rash just around the butt and we thought it was because we weren't changing them enough (as unlikely as it seemed). We put resin on it and it went away. Now we are changing them if theres any pee or even a speckle of poop, and she's still getting it. Now I'm thinking it may be because we are changing and whipping too much (about 10-15 diaper changes a day). Any insight would be appreciated.

Baby skin is just sensitive and irritates quick.  If there is no poo, you can wait til its full but even a tiny little bit of poo, thats an automatic change...  My first born was sensitive like that so we had to put desitin all the time...  With my 2nd one, she isnt as sensitive so we only had to do it a couple of times.  10+ is normal for new borns as far as diaper changes per day...

If you haven't already, try changing diaper brands more specifically try a different brand of wipes. This happened with our son and it ended up coming down to a specific brand of wipes irritating his skin.

pretty normal on the diaper changes, and esp for a girl we would always change once she pee'd or had poo.

have you tried switching up your diapers? kickhead23 kickhead23

If you have a lot of diapers from your baby shower just go swap a box out with another brand and see wich brand of diapers and wipes is better.

So I've realized that people who have previously had children are ******* enthusiastic about pawning their stuff off ... It's super convenient :nthat:...

Pretty much this.

Also, before you put the diaper on, try air drying a little bit, like don't put the diaper on right after wiping with the wipes, wait like 30 seconds or so.

That's what we did and it helped the rash go away.

When it got really bad that's when we used desitin.

My wife is great about cleaning out the closets and selling things on our local Facebook group for kids clothes/stuff.  There's also a second hand store around here that pays cash for used kids clothes, but they pay less than what we can usually sell it for, so that's typically the last resort.  Personally, I'd probably just drop it all off at Goodwill once a year, but she values her time far less than I do.

Thanks everyone for the replies. As far as changing wipes, diaper brands, we've changed diapers but it doesn't seem like that would be the cause since the rash is limited to a small area right around the pooper.

I've been air drying for about a week now and it seems to have limited the recurrence. But damn is it risky with the potential for shotgun splatter poop.

Make sure you're not putting on the diaper too tight also. I did that a few times and it would leave my daughter marked up. Try and wipe her clean as best as you can but try not to go overboard either since that can contribute to a rash. For the first month I believe we put the desdin on every time for the first month because she was having a constant rash.

Have any of you dads took advantage of the diaper stock up w/ Target?

What's this you speak of?

Think it's still running, but in order to fully benefit, you need coupons. Target has a buy 2 boxes at $25/ea and get a $10 gift card. Stack that with coupons per box plus the $40 off $200 in baby items in the circular and it breaks down to between $5-8 a box.

I just want to know if I'm the only man who has a child that loves school so much that it drives them nuts and makes them EXTREMELY!! proud at the same time. Lol my 10 year old daughter won't take a bribe to miss a single day of school. Believe me I've tried. She's the top of everything in every grade. I'm in school for everything. She plays everything. I always hated school and was always bad. My wife was the same. Now this is what we get lol.. No extra sleep. Ever.

Sounds legit. I know for now we're good in diapers cause we were blessed with everyone bringing multiple packs of diapers.
