Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

Had my Daughters 18 month appointment and the doc said she's behind on her words. Any toy or device you guys recommend to help her out? She understands what I say and does what i tell her to do, but getting her to say words if impossible. She just looks at you and mumbles some baby noises

Alphabet puzzle.

I'll try to explain this in the simplest way.

You know how you see a picture/toy of a cow, and you know a cow says "moo"

Use that same logic with the alphabet letters.

Start off with the letter "A" and treat it like an animal and keep relaying to your daughter that that specific letter makes the sound "Ayyyyy". We spent a whole week just on one letter. To the point where every time he saw the letter he would say "AYYYY".

Sounds funny at first but I taught my son how to do the alphabet and his numbers with that logic. Treat each letter like it makes a sound, when she see's it, she will think of the sound it makes by how it looks.

My son at one point thought my name was "daddy work". Cause I work during the day and my girl would tell my son daddy's at work. So he would always call me "daddy work"

My daughter's 15 months and that's how she does too. I was asking my wife if 15 months was a little too early for "Terrible Two's" behavior

This girl will open her drawer, throw out one shirt at a time, close the drawer and then go "uh-ohhhh" then start clapping. Who does that?

Man my girl will be foldin clothes and there his lil *** goes, throwin panties and socks on the floor and then go 'ohhhh' with a shocked look on his face.

Its funny, but we try not to laugh. Dont want laughter encouraging disruptive behavior.

Yall ever had your lil ones model?

I wouldn't really trip too hard off it yet. Does she happen to hear two different languages regularly? My son is almost two and is constantly around English and Spanish, and they say speaking usually takes longer with two languages in the household.

I read to him probably 3x a week. Listen to music and sing with him. He watches cartoons all in English.

i'll never forget the first time my son said papa tho

Yeah shes around alot of Khmer as well. I know she understand it because she responds to me when I tell her something. I've been trying extra hard these last 2 days speaking slowly and small words to her. Got her a couple first words toys and kept pointing to a pister she loves of animals and got her to say bear instead of just pointing tp the bear

I've "tried". It's gon be hard to start out with paid gigs. There's practically an infinite amount of parents with kids who they want to be stars.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. I'm not saying there aren't people who get discovered everyday but with everybody wanting their kids to blow up, I'm sure those occurrences are few and far, in between.

Even getting your child to go "viral" on social media isn't an easy feat. My lil cousin's daughter got reposted by a popular account on facebook a few days ago and my homie from back home their first son's pregnancy pic was passed around as "goals" a few years ago.

You'll be aight bruh. Time will go by hella fast then next thing you know their 15 yrs old and your left looking at old bby pics of them :frown:

Wifey say she want another one (#6)

HEO nah

Has anyone here regretted not giving their kid a middle name? My son is 14 months and I still want to give him his middle name. But since the wife is pregnant she says  that if it's a boy we can name him that.

I don't hear of too many people without a middle name. What was the reasoning behind that for you guys? My son's middle name is my dad's first name and my daughter's middle name is my mom's first name. For us it was a way to honor the grandparents.

He was supposed to have a middle name but when my wife handed me the birth certificate I didn't write in a middle name for him. She asked if I was sure and said yes. But now it's bugging me that he should have one

If you do decide to do it, you should do it soon. The longer you wait the more documents you will have to fill out again. Plus I think it's going to cost you around $500 to change his BC and SSN card. Not that it matters but Is that name of any significance?

I'm going to do it soon. I started researching it and saw the price and I have to do some leg work. The name isn't really special, it's just a comic book characters name.
