Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

My dumbass father came in town for one day and promise my baby girl the Apple Watch. Had my daughter waiting for hours to come to back and give her a $100. She was so disappointed.

Dude has always been a promise breaker. Mind you, he haven't seen her in 2 years. Didn't call for my bday or hers, but comes here for one day and promise her the world

Can't let my princess down, went and brought her a Apple Watch. Smmfh

I refused to let that ***** do my daughter like he did me as a child.

my daughter has no idea who her grandpa is, my dad, and id like to keep it that way.

I havent seen my father in like 10 years...not sure if he even knows hes a grandfather..

And on the other hand..my wifes father, is low key racist, and abusive..

Low-key happy he isnt my wifes biological parent and my daughter dosent have his genes :smh:

For those of you who don't have a relationship with one set of parents, what did you tell your kids? We have nothing to do with my wife's side of the family and my kids will only know my parents as their grandparents, but I know one day soon my 5 y/o son is going to ask about mommy's parents and we haven't figured out what to say because the real reasons are too much for him to understand. Right now we are undecided between telling him they are dead or live far away (more likely).

Til this day I've never met my wife's pops.

It's weird to me because my son is his only grandchild but apparently dude is a top notch scumbag so even if he tried my wife would be against it

Don't lie to your kid..Be honest in the vaguest way possible..Just tell him that daddy and mommy prefer to not have them around because it wouldn't be the healthiest/happiest situation..If they ask why just say it's a personal/grown up decision that you both made together and leave it at that..

This is what I'm going to do as far as mine as concerned... Just tell Lil' Savage that not everyone is created equally and to appreciate those that love you...

For me, my step-father was more than a father to me than anything. It's amazing how he stepped up as my daughter's grandfather. I swear you could not tell that man my daughter is not his blood. He absolutely loves her like no other.

It's sad because my daughter has two grandfathers (my father and her mothers fatger) that are living and ain't worth 2 cents. They're missing out on the greatest child ever.

For that, my stepdad is all she knows as her grandfather and I will not take that away from her. She hasn't brought it up yet but it doesn't seems to bother her.

Just bothers me how my father thinks he can just pop up anytime every 2-3 years and make promises. I can only imagine what she thinks, "who's this guy is again?"

My mom's dad used to do that but he wouldn't make any promises. He'd just pop up and be like "Heeeeey maan" and I'd hug him knowing we related but not sure how. smh

My dad was "there" after he and my moms got divorced. We never had a conversation about what actually happened and where he was while they weren't together but I know drugs and such was involved. He's not a bad guy tho, very smart. Step dad is cool, didn't really appreciate him until I learned he viewed me as his son and not his stepson. Made me realize that I was separating myself from someone who really cared for me. Def set the tone to how I treat my son now

My girls biological dad was in and out her life. Currently their relationship is minimal. She asked me how I felt with our daughter meeting him, I told her it's fine but he's not her grandfather at all and I don't want him to think he is. I'd have no problem telling him straight out if she didn't want to. Her stepfather is our daughters grandfather and there's no arguing with me on that. He showed up when my girl was 4 or 5 she said and he took over. It's a similar situation to my older sister and my dad. They're not blood but don't tell those men that because they'll fight you on it. I told my girl that when our daughter gets older and asks we would tell her the truth to where she would understand it.

My son is almost a year and a half and my wife's "dad" hasn't even meet him or even called to ask about him. My wife called her "dad" to let him know that my son his first grandchild was born and she couldn't even get a visit from him. I'm trying to find a way to tell my wife that I don't want him around my son. I don't want him to pull the same stuff that he did on her on him.

Man you don't have to "find a way" to tell her that..It's your child too and what you say carries just as much weight as what she says when it comes to your baby..Flat out tell her that you don't want that piece of **** anywhere near your youngin and leave it at that..If she tries to argue, hit her with a Tombstone Piledriver and you won't ever have to talk about this topic again..

Only reason that I say that is cause I think that secretly she still wants that pos in her life

my son is in his vehicle phase. he used to be more into construction trucks but now he likes cars. when he opened his presents, anything that wasn't a vehicle was met with this face [emoji]128514[/emoji]

it's an amazing blessing to see him get all psyched for christmas though. the lights, the food, the not going to school, family visits and of course the presents. watching his face light up is much better than any gift i received, even the time i got a mini bike in 4th grade [emoji]129304[/emoji][emoji]127996[/emoji]

Happy New Year to all the papas out there.

If you feel as if you could have been a better father / husband / son please take this new year to work on it.

Let's be great famb.

Man my little dude will not let me sit down. Idk if they hold him & walk all day at day care or if his Mom has him like this but he throws a complete fit anytime you're not standing up while holding him. Had to let him cry it out a minute ago, no way I can physically stand with him all day.

Any of you guys got good cough remedies for your kids? My 5y/o has had a bad one for almost a week with no stuffy/runny nose so I was thinking allergy at first but antihistamines don't seem to be making a difference.

My 5 yr old breaks into these deep dry coughs when air is cold. He's been ok lately. Used the Vicks humidifier but that **** was wack. We just cover his neck with scarf or tee shirt with Vicks rub on . Old school **** gma used to do. Protect ya neck
