OFFICIAL FEBRUARY '13 NIKE OUTLET/WEBSITE/STORE UPDATE THREAD - DO NOT MAKE REQUESTS

I know you can return NDC purchases at outlets, so I would assume they would take an NT return.  They will mark it down because every return gets marked down in there, but they won't let you buy it back after they mark it down, and the person that accepts the return will put those behind the counter for him/her to purchase when their shift ends, at the marked down price.

If it was not a new retro like that, or not something hyped, then they would mark it down and put it at the register, then eventually put it on the shelf if no one picked it up.  They won't let you return them and then just re buy them to get the discount if that is what you are asking.
Ok thanks that's helpful. What if your friend goes in right after you returned them and asked to buy that pair -- would they say no because they would automatically want to keep them?

Nike returns anything, anywhere, at any store as long as your have a receipt. They dont care as long as the product is brand new.

Exactly.  A pair like that won't make it to the sales floor, for sure.  And they would know something was up, because no outlets get those anytime near RD.  Returns work differently than a shoe coming in on freight too, in how they go back into inventory, the timing, when the markdown is in their system, etc...  LOL once you return that shoe, the public isn't getting it back.

Now I must ask a question: if I buy a pair of Jordan Royal 1s on Saturday from Niketown NYC am I allowed to return them to a Nike outlet in Jersey Gardens? I didn't think I would. But reading through here it seems like I could and they would mark down the price afterward

Ps BRED IV restock http://bit.ly/Y4Dxx0

they wont let you simply return the shoe and buy them back. simple as that.

yea keep in mind. when I returned my fire red V yesterday.I ordered on release date on NDC. that time it took from the east coast to CA. about a week. then I lagged. so it erally wasn't "new"

So what the guy was trying to do would be less likely to succeed. if it does only IF and only IF the employees don't put it behind the counter/in the back for them to rebuy with their 30% off ON TOP of how much it was marked down.

I was very surprised the Vs I returned didn't exactly go through what I described. Maybe a strict manager on the floor at that time?

One of those, you have to be at the right place at the right time. if anything have a friend with you pretend to be a stranger, and come up all hyphy, "yo pleighboi you returning those, go ahead and return it and let me buy them right now with the mark down youz about to put"

looks like not all the pics worked. nothing much on the pics that didnt show up:

EuGeNiLe - you really dont think that would work do you?

It would be safe to guess that Nike has thought about that, and unless the employee that returned them bought them right after their shift, the manager would have some rules/guidelines to follow for the situation. Your not going to buy a shoe at retail, go straight to an outlet, return it, they mark it down and then buy it back...

c'mon man

c'mon man, i replied based on my experience. not saying what other dood wanted to do and return rebuy instantly would work. i agree he cant just return it then rebuy it.

but if his situation was like mine, then that would be his only chance of success of the markdown, but he would probably need a partner.

like i said i returned the fire red Vs. instantly they put the alarm tag on it and sat it on the register for purchase and marked it down, as they did the 2 pairs of kobe 8 pythons.

If that was his scenario exactly how it happened for me.. the next person in line, say someone i knew who i told before hand, "yea they gonna mark it down just rebuy it right after" then yea it wouldve worked. it was fair game.

but thats YMMV (your miles may vary) because maybe they do not always do that. maybe they wont put it for sale right away. maybe they keep it the back, then yea it would not always work out that way.

Not sure if this is the place, but just in case...

My local Nordstrom Rack (Burlington MA) has the 2012 Jordan Grey/Volt and UNC mega-packs for 99.97, assorted sizes from 8.5-13 (but no 10, since that's my size).  Also the Royal Blue Kobe VII (not sure if there's a nickname for those, since I don't go for Kobes) in a 13.  So, check your local ones if you're interested.  Other Jordans appeared in the racks, but the 2012s were a display up front.

30% off hash, 40% off clearance apparel and 40% off clearance apparel at FactoryStores through 2/18.

Lots of stuff for All-Star if you'll be there...

I was at South Chi 2 hours ago. Place was jam *&%$ packed. They didn't have anything larger than a 9.5 on the IVs. They have scattered sizes on the IX's as you can see from the pic.

I specifically asked did they have any more of the IVs in the back and they said no. "kanye shrug"

EDIT: Both models were priced at $129.

^^Really good find man. Going to hit my outlet up tomorrow, to see if they have anything good.

FINL has Photo Blue IX's size 8-14 on the website.

Still regular price, but they're out there if anyone wanted a pair.

Folsom Outlet has a pair of Jordan Vs size 12 for $139.99. They're in the back, so you have to ask. There is a 30% hash sale going, but I don't know if they will apply it to the Vs.

Further, they're going to mark it down by like $20 - $30.

If going through all that trouble for $20 is worth it to somebody, then that somebody probably doesn't need to be collecting $200 low quality basketball shoes.

Way back when a few friends worked at the Nike Outlet near me, they would go down to Nike Town, buy their launch product, come back to the store, have one person return all the shoes, then the next person would swoop them back up with the discounted outlet price and employee discount. Of course, it all depends on the manager, and the manager back then was hella cool with those guys.

Another friend of mine returned a new shoe without his receipt, got a gift card, then the next person bought it up with his discount and used the returned gift card towards it.

It is definitely possible.

yea but youd have to know the staff to do any of this. yes, its possible but no its not likely anymore especially since dude wanted to return the royal 1s and rebuy them for a lower price.

Not necessarily, if you had someone behind you in line, and had them immediately say I want to buy that pair of shoes he just returned, it would work. The only problem I can see is the line up system at the registers for the out let stores, they are all snaked through the store instead of having individual check stands like at grocery stores. The dude who wants to buy the shoes would have to stand right behind the dude returning them, which would make it suspicious. Probably better to do this when it's really slow with only one or two cashiers.

Its still a risk, though, because if you could get that cashier who would immediately place the shoes in the back and come up with some BS lie saying they have to send all new shoes in the back for inspection by management and stash it until their shift is over. I'm actually guilty of doing this when some dude returned a pair of space jams to my store. Swooped them up at outlet price and employee discount :pimp:

The bottom line is that you have to make an extra trip, you risk losing the shoes altogether, and if you do succeed, you come up about $30 worth. ...Oh, and you need an accomplice - so you'll have to split those spoils. At the end of the day, the value proposition and opportunity cost make this one of the absolute worst "hustle" attempts I have heard in the history of sneaker collecting.

Now, if you have connects at a store, then that opens up other avenues for come ups. But, you can't presume that is the case when evaluating the strategy itself.

I don't think this merits any further discussion.
