Flyknit Chukka Thread

I walked in my local finishline on Saturday and these Gold Flyknits caught my eye($180). Being completely new to these type of shoes I asked to try on either a size 10.5 or 11. I was told they were a return and its the only one(Sz8.5) so I went to footlocker and the biggest they had was 9.5. On to the next, Footaction & Champs didn't even carry them. Grrrrreat.....

So now i'm super curious about these Flyknit Chukkas. I've read the last 10+ pages on this post and take it the Lunars are more comfortable than the frees? How is sizing though? I wear mainly Jordans(10.5), Lebrons(11), Foamposites(11), Air Max 90's(11) but they all have thickness & padding all around and it looks like these flyknits don't. I have owned a pair of Lunarglide 5's(sz11) recently and found them quite comfortable but get super dirty quick and are tough to clean. I'm interested in these chukkas and found some cheap prices online but have no clue what size or model to choose. 

Any guidance/advice is appreciated. Ty

You probably should try to acquire a pair of Lunar Chukkas.  Comfort-wise, the general consensus is that Lunars are more comfortable.  I can't vouch for how Free Chukkas fit, but I can tell you how Lunars are like.  Much like with most Flyknit footwear, if you buy the right size, they fit like form-fitting gloves on your feet.  While there is no padding that lines the insides of the shoes, that's pretty much inconsequential to the level of comfort and freedom brought about by the sock-like feel of the Flyknit uppers.  I'm assuming that the Frees in terms of upper fit are almost the same as the Lunars.  Then again, the Free versions look to have a slimmer midsole/ cushioning set up so that might have an influence on the overall fit.  

Now as for comfort, (I'll try my best not to be biased here lol) it really boils down to whether you prefer the barefoot-like feel provided by the flex grooves of the Free outsole (which allows for a more natural range of motion with each step you take)

Or, do you prefer a plush, soft, and squishy ride given by Lunarlon?

Those are one of the oldest Chukka colorways and will be hard to find besides eBay, they sat on sale for a while. The Lunars are TTS.

Regular on the midsole, premium on the Flyknit.  The midsole doesn't need to be treated with that much delicacy, so I just go ahead and use the regular brush for a deep clean.  Careful in using cleaner when dealing with speckled midsole Lunar Chukkas.  My Squadron Blue/Platinums have some of the speckles faded away now

I put my flyknits in the washer. I then let them air dry.

Have you put padded trainers in the wash?

I've put my non-padded trainers, racers, and chukkas in the wash with no problem. I was just wondering about the padded trainers because of the extra material and they might take way longer to dry.

definitely go .5 size down, but could do full size. I went .5 down and wish i went a full size down

Generally im a 12 in everything, for reference a 12 in racers is perfect, a 11.5 would be too small, 12.5 would be ok but a little more room than I like. In the chukka with the free bottoms, I went with an 11, with a TAD BIT of room. I could prob even go with a 10.5, it would be tight but the way the toe box is on the chukkas I could see it working.

Man you guys are right about the difference in fit from lunar to free. I have a pair of lunar chukka's and yesterday bought the Nike Womens Free Flyknit Chukka Atomic Mango/Wolf Grey-Pink Glow-White free and tried wearing them around the house for a while and couldnt deal with the flat footed feel. I tried a different insole and thinker socks and still the same feel.....flat and uncomfortable. Needless to say I think I am going to return them and just move away from the free sole's all together. Damn shame as I love the colorwaybut can't deal with the way they fit and the feel of them, oh well more money in my pocket. Real stupid move on Nike's part to replace the lunar sole.
