You can do that without the appleTV, just mirror it straight from ipad to TV with the app AirServer. Or jailbreak that appleTV and really have some fun LOL you can watch any channel you want, free pay-per-view ect.

only the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd has never been jailbroke.

Anyone else having problems with BiteSMS, showing the same person on the lockscreen if you get multiple text messages? Instead of the

I don't have a smart tv w/wifi capabilities, the only way to stream is with the assistance of apple TV or the PS3. Even then, school me broski. I've tried tons of things, luckily DirecTV's On Demand is a beast so I'm not hurting for content when it comes to TV shows. Still would like to stream HD movies from Amazon Prime.

OK theres an app called AirPlay. Check it out. As long as the AppleTV and iPad are on the same wifi you can stream photo videos or music to the tv.
 
Ok so there are plenty of benefits from jailbreaking but this is my first iPhone (5) what are the disadvantages of jailbreaking?

lol would sound like a silly question but i mean it essentially allows you to use apps that are dependent or run on edge etc.... to run on 3g like tricks them.... ie so to be honest seeing as you are on 4g i dont think so.... i do know they are working on a my4g...so with that being said i doubt it would hurt/help.
