Was talking to a buddy and I was pretty much saying no matter what happens in all of Wisconsin sports we have zero right to complain about anything because we have Aaron Rodgers. As much as I have complained about the NBA only being competitive between a few teams, or how frustrated I've been with the Brewers and their recent past misery, I have realized in the grand schemes of things I have nothing to complain about. Or perhaps other fans frustrations are more justified than mine.

I was saying it's like we have our own Lebron James and then I kinda stepped dead in my tracks. Cause it is... Lebron James. Even though IMO football > basketball its hard to ignore how big of an icon Lebron is. Then for a little while I was thinking damn who would I rather have.

So here's the question. Lets say of the 4 major sports Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey, if you could pick any active player to be on your team who would it be. There's a few factors that come into play. What type of championship would you like to experience winning? Everyone has different preferences, some prefer basketball over football, baseball over basketball, hockey over baseball ect. Also, whoever you pick you take their past, present, and future into consideration. So if you pick an older person like Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, Or Albert Pujols that means you will have been able to experience them in their primes and winning championships for your team. If you want you can pick someone younger who is a superstar but doesn't quite have a legacy yet like a Kevin Durant...or a very young player with Superstar potential like Andrew Luck, Kyrie Irving, Mike Trout or Bryce Harper.

So who would you pick?

Brady
Manning
Rodgers
Kobe
Lebron
Durant
Pujols
Verlander
Ovechkin
Crosby
.....

?

I've seen my teams win football and baseball championships, so I'd take Lebron.

Def LeBron James.

There isn't anyone else in major sports thats head and shoulders better than their peers. Durant is good, but he's not on Lebron's level.

I wish Kobe went to Duke for a year and styled. I don't even like Duke but that would've elevated his legend hate.

edit: I'm not even sure I answered the question correctly.... I just saw "Aaron Rodgers as a Cornhusker" and rode the wave.

You should pick a basketball player since they can impact a game individually more than any other sport

This is why it was a tough decision for me. IMO Football is the greatest sport on earth and the Lombardi is the most prized trophy in America so I would want to have a legend for a QB. Even though I love basketball the Finals aren't as valuable as the Superbowl. Not only is Lebron such a dominant talent that we've never seen before but he's a global icon. Just as an individual this dude is larger than life within the sports world.

Jimmer Fredette at BYU. Imagine the yambs...

I briefly thought of something along the lines of which college player would you want given what they did during their time attending but that would be confusing and would require a second thread.

I'll tell you this though when I day dream about playing college ball I imagine myself being like Jimmer Freddette. I'd much rather have the ability to be a lights out shooter than a dude who his freakishly athletic dunking all over the place. To have the balls to walk the ball up the court, pull up from 10 feet behind the arc before you initiate any kind of offense and just drain it as the crowd erupts would be the best feeling I could imagine.

LeBron's obviously amazing, but you'd only be getting one Chip and actually years of frustration.

I think I'd say Tom Brady or Tim Duncan.
