You played the odds and won. :pimp:

For those wondering, if the officer did show up and OP was proven guilty........the book!

This is why I always encourage people to go to court instead of paying the ticket.  You just might get lucky with the cop not showing up.

happened to me too for running a red light (wasnt eem red) :pimp:

Greatest feeling ever op.

When I was 17 i got booked both no insurance and suspended licence, went to court and officer didn't show up. Judge said" seeing as how some people send their friends on their behalf to say they couldn't make it, I'll grant the officer the same exception, court date rescheduled" ...I wished I had a lawyer 7000$ later still owe the ministry 2 stacks

What happens if you don't show up?

bench warrant for 5000

Not necessarily, if you miss your hearing you get a bench warrant. However, if you go to your hearing, plead "Not Guilty/No Contest" and you pay the fine to get your day in court against the officer who gave you the citation and then miss, you just forfeit your fine. Basically you take an L.

My "trial" was on 1/7, completely forgot about it, the ticket was issued in February of 2012,. I had already paid so I just forfeited the fine, :smh:. Now I got to do traffic school. No way the cop would've shown up.

Would love for this to happen for me tomorrow. Question though. I usually just hire a lawyer, but its to late. What usually happens when u show up broke. Can I get a continuance? Something.

you usually get 3 options ,plea deal...which is something like a fine+traffic school , continuation , or a guilty plea

if its minor theres like a 60 percent chance the cop not gonna show up , especially if you got da ticket late at night

cause thats probably a midnight cop and last thing they wanna do is be in court after a 9 hour shift
