Hey peeps. I was looking into buying the Fuel band as a way to manage the activity I get done in a day and was wondering if it's worth it for those who have it.

The pro's to me are that for one it looks good and is water resistant and from the reviews I read it does give you a somewhat accurate measurement of your activity but I hate that it doesn't have a heart rate monitor built into it.

what do you guys think about it? Is is just a gimmick or is it worth the price?

I have one.

PROs: keeps you active, logs in your height/weight calories burned, "Fuel", distance traveled/amount of time active

keeps track of your best days, accelerometer.

its good overall.

CONs: water resistant, NOT water proof. Can't go swimming in it.

you lift weights? wont be too accurate with the calorie burns since you can do pushups and it wont sense anything in that way.

Basically if you're into cardio its great.

Looks sleek, people think its a wristband and when you turn it on it lights em up pretty good :smokin

I like the concept of it but it doesn't accurately count like mentioned above. I have a desk job and I get fuel points when i type haha

It does show me how lazy I am during the weekend tho

I have it, cool gadget which you can sinc to your phone...I think of it as a cool you rather than an actual fitness monitor, I've realized if you want something to accurately manage your workouts, get a polar heart rate.

I have one. it keeps me motivated to beat my daily "fuel" goal. i have it on all the time and let's me know which days were my lazy days. but honestly you can be motivated without one and it's not necessary. just something cool to have.

I have one. The battery stopped charging. Had to return it and get a new one. Haven't really used it much since. Just wear it as an accessory.

Yeah but it's weird every nite my fuel points increase at an extraordinary rate

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve for yourself physically. If you want a little motivation to get going, I think it does a good enough job. However, if you're really in *need* of motivation, then there lies a bigger problem - which would be that you just don't have a desire deep inside to be physically active.

I have two friends who have fuel bands. One encouraged the other and the 2nd friend got it out of excitement. 2 weeks later (with me asking for daily and constant fuel checks), he eventually stopped responding and haven't heard or seen a pic of his fuel points since. My friend Dan who originally had it first is about to hit 100 days straight, but his daily goal is 3K. Sure it's a great feeling to hit that daily goal and I'm sure it feels good to reach it everyday but so can people who set their daily goals to 1K.

Example, for my one friend who had it first, he encourages and recommends it to basically everyone that asks about it. Always saying "it gets me to be active and wanna do something cuz I gotta hit my daily goal." He says he wants to lose another 15-20 pounds and just hasn't been able to shake it off. So I suggest him join me at the gym. Which brings me to this important point..

If you want a measure of how active you are, I think it may be worth your while. But if you're trying to get motivated and get in tip top shape, it may not last - as in the case of my second friend that bought it out of excitement and hype. So really, think about what you want to achieve. A fuel band (kinda like motivation) will get you started but it's persistence and dedication that will get you results.

Good luck

not good for lifting
good for cardio

I have it, i got it as a gift. Use it every day, like the way it looks.

Is it worth the price? Not at all. But it's a fun gadget that lets you know roughly how active you've been

here is what mines did for me, i got it as a gift on xmas, been wearing it since, the day after xmas i dusted off my p90x, did it for about a week, after that i signed up for crossfit and been on that for going on 2 months, it was the spark i needed to get back into a healthy routine...now like i said, thats about as much as its done, other than that, i have my goal set @ 3k and i hit it almost everyday, earned my water medal 10 times....reached 5k a couple of times...
