2013 New York Yankees season thread Vol. (85-77) OFFSEASON

Preserve him by moving to a corner OF spot. I've been clamoring for that change for 18 months now.

Well didn't work for Griffey :frown:

But it is the smart thing to do.

ESPN did an article about Fielder for Kinsler type deals for Matt Kemp.. Saying we should trade CC for Kemp..

LOL.

That's definitely not what the Yankees would offer.

FTR I want fat CC back  . I think he'll bounce back this season though.

Griffey's knees were already ailing by the time he got to the Reds, or am I wrong?

Weight loss coincides with dip in velocity on the FB.

Must cut down on the HR's allowed. James Shields syndrome.

Way too hittable in 2013.

Bounce back, redemption campaign could yield 16-17 wins with an ERA hovering around 3.25-3.30.

Griffey was pretty much done and gone by 2007 when I think they moved him.

Yea, we definitely need CC to fatten up this off season

Yanks are going to be making a lot more moves in the coming weeks. They lost the draft pick, so there's no need to have that holding you back anymore.

Plus, when Curtis signs somewhere else, they'll be getting that pick right back.

*prays he signs in Chicago*

Apparently Yankees have made Beltran #1 priority which means Beltran probably will be a Yankee
Heard this today also, hope they don't give him a deal longer than 3 years. Isn't he 36??? I'd rather get somebody younger but knowing the Yankees they might get him and another outfielder. Wonder whats going to happen with Cano, I still don't see anybody else being a major player for him. I really hope he stays with the Yankees but he needs to come down to reality with his asking price.

Hoping we don't commit to Beltran for 3+ years. 2/3 I'm cool with because he has continued to show production even with age.

Trade CC get Kemp, dudes best player in baseball when when healthy even though he f'd over my fantasy baseball team last season :smh:

I guess Yankees offered Cano 7 / $168mil.. The gap between Yankees and Cano is defined as "substantial." Cano is asking for over $200mil.

Just up it to 182. $26mil a year. Second highest paid behind A-Rod. $14mil over 7 years is nothing with a large contract. Just get it done and over.

Yankees want Beltran.. Beltran wants to play with the Yankees. Yankees do not want to give a 3rd year, but Beltran really wants a 3rd year.

I just looked up Kuroda's stats.

In his last 10 starts. He had 6 bad starts/mediocre, 4 good starts in which he want 1-1.

But if you look at his numbers even after the bad starts where he ran out of gas. He is right in line with every single stat from 2012. Biggest difference is 16-11 to 11-13.

He pitched like a damn wizard through July. Average 6-1/3IP .238ERA, .226OPP BA.. 1.03 WHIP. He only goes 10-6.

The difference is in 2012: He had 4.50 Runs Support. In 2013 he had 3.16.

Had he gotten almost 1.5 more runs a game. He likely pitches less, with less stress, and even when he runs out of gas in July, is supported by the offense.

Kuroda's season up to the trade deadline was killed due to a lack of run support, and fell apart because he had nothing left.

I understand why Beltran would want a third year but If I was the Yankees I wouldn't give Beltran a guaranteed third year, more like a team option and possibly give him an extra mill or two on those first 2 years.

As far as Cano goes, just try and get this thing done, don't procrastinate. I personally don't think he's worth that money by any means but they don't have any other options & Robbie knows that. I still think he's going to go whoever gives him the most money.

Kuroda? Wouldn't mind seeing him come back but not at that price tag.

Looks like Yankees might bring back Phil Hughes at a lower price tag but strictly bullpen/spot starter.

What's Johan Santana doing? Is he a free agent right now?

- As desperate as they are for offense, I'm surprised they're not giving Beltran the 3rd year. I wouldn't either but maybe they have something else up their sleeves to get an OF'er. Think they're pretty much done with Granderson (which is good). I honestly think Seattle might be the dark horse to give him (and Cruz) the extra years they want.

- Kick my TV through the window if they sign McClouth

- I'm with you on Cano, Essential. Seven/$186mm should do it. I'm not scared of Detroit or Anaheim if they decide to suck it up and pull the trigger.

The longest ill to with cano is 6 years with the vesting option on the 7th year
If we can't get Beltran on a 2 year deal with a vesting option I'd give the same deal to Corey hart but for lesser AAV

I want Beltran for two years.

They're saying Cano and the Yankees are almost 100 million apart

6 year deal, I'm fine with 7 years. Should be 180-190 max. If someone offers him 240 or more, I have no problem with him leaving.

That's what I'm saying, man. The Angels were already dumb enough to give Pujols that contract, Detroit let Fielder go for a reason, and the Yankees are the only serious contenders.

When Durant becomes a FA, he is going to ask for money that exceeds the Salary Cap. Hov is in a new industry, this isnt music where you can sign some artist for nothing and put him on the shelf for year while raping him for "show money".
