Don't get me wrong, I do like this roster, at least better than Last Season's on Opening Day...
But I think Yankees are being too reluctant with their money... Since they agreed with Beltran
I'm fine with Ellsbury, Jeter, Beltran as our 1-3 that's great..
I wish we had a better cleanup hitter and Sori, Tex, McCann were pushed back to 5-7...
Brian Roberts at 8 or Kelly Johnson at 8 is fine.
Gardner at 9 and having it rotate back to Ellsbury is being way too underrated. I think that's going to help us with a lot of wins, because Gardner is going to get on base, which unlike your normal #9 is going to put pressure on the pitcher, and make mistakes to Ells. I think Ellsbury will hit 15-25HRs.
I like C.C. (who I think will bounce back), Kuroda, Nova... Pretty good 1-3. But that 4-5 is frighteningly thin. I'd love Tanaka just because he's a good pitcher, and will benefit being on the staff with Kuroda who can help him transition.. Same country, same league.. There's a lot Kuroda can teach him, and make him more successful.
But I'm not too sure on Pineda.. And I damn sure am not sure about Phelps.. Pineda has the stuff, but can he be healthy. And even if he is healthy, how good will his stuff translate. And if CC or Kuroda have a down year, we are in trouble.. That's why I think Garza would be nice.... Sure he'll be end of the rotation, he'll be getting paid way more than that type of guy should get, but it offers stability.
The bullpen; I love Kelly, love Claiborne.. Robertson isn't a closer. He is on the other hand the best 8th inning guy in the show. I feel like we are 3 arms away.. If Betances can be as good as we know he can be out the pen, then that solves one problem.. Thorton is no Boone, so that's a concern.. And we will be stuck with an inconsistent closer in Rodney.
