Black Mass vol. Johnny Depp to star as Boston mobster W.hitey Bulger

Just watched this earlier today.

Overall, not a bad movie, Johnny Depp did a great job in his role as well as the other cast, but def had higher expectations. Not sure if it was the pace of the movie, but it seemed like the story could have been told better by leaving out/putting some other dramatic scenes in. I feel this could have made a great miniseries on HBO.

The Departed > Black Mass

I wish we were able to see how he built his empire. One scene is small time. They jump a couple years and boom, kingpin. I wish there was at least some kind of montage scene showing him and his crew putting in work.

Also I felt like the movie was more about his disdain for snitches. Most of the people he killed were people who might possibly rat on him. And I felt like the ending was rushed. It definitely could have used an extra hourto flesh out the story.

Saw it tonight. Meh. I'd give it a solid B-. Expectations were much higher.

In my honest opinion, just read the book. 100x better, more detailed, much more fascinating.

Depp was pretty good though. Over acted a bit, but I suppose he had to Hollywood the story up a bit.

Read the book. Will not disappoint.

What does the book look like?

Saw the movie earlier and thought It was cool. I know Depp performance will be criticized/praised but I found him to be very good in this role. Everybody else was very meh to me. Storyline once in the 3rd act was very rushed and it all wrapped up without any climax. They spent way to much time on the middle part of the story imo. With such a great cast I expected better acting. It's always funny hearing guys try and mimick Boston accents lol. It's either hit or miss and this movie had a lot of misses

The departed > book> black mass

Saw the movie today it was great the way it told the story and all. By the book was wayyyy more detailed. Dep and all the main characters look amazing to the real counterpart. Like someone said this could of been a great mini series and I feel like the movie could of showed more of how he got over the mafia in more depth in becoming a kingpin. Wish Martin Scorsese did this movie but it was a good movie nonetheless

Saw the movie over the weekend.

Everyone... wait for the DVD or in two weeks DVD quality will be up on stream sites.

As someone said I give it a 6/10.

Depp was good and I liked the character and a lot of the scenes where he's speaking knowledge is quotable especially when he's talking to the little boy at the dinner table

Saw the movie. Thought it was alright. Depp was good but I think Joel Edgerton stole the show. Dude is underrated

After thinking about it I just have to  at the turf war partially being about VENDING MACHINES.

Seriously? Vending machines?

Cool focus but I did nod off a few times

I thought he was gonna kill his girl when she said she's gonna pull the plug on their son smh

Hoping to catch this film during a matinee soon. I've been reading up on ****** Bulger since watching the Netflix Doc.

I saw the movie but haven't yet watch the Netflix documentary..
It's one of those CNN documentaries. Really good and very informative.

I didn't understand why it was such a big deal when was caught and arrested. But after reading about what he did in Boston, wow. Dude was running everything.
