The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I am glad you can play PS4 games off line....i didn't even know that was a rumor

Maybe i am one of the few people that likes to play games alone. But i like playing some sports games online...and COD online...but i still enjoy turning the lights off and playing RPGs by myself. I really don't need all this "interaction". When i want to hang out with people i go outside....when i don't....i play video games. I am getting sick of having all this stuff trying to integrate my life

April 26 for the new Xbox unveiling is beast! Im sure both systems will have it's ups and downs. the new Nintendo isn't that bad either. Glad to hear about new consoles. Thanks

Same here...and why do people need to watch me play games when I'm chilling at home?

I thought metal gear solid was for both system now? Like the net metal gear solid coming out this year?

ok, so what games are exclusive next gen?

Sony (GOW, Uncharted, GT, LBP, etc), Microsoft (Halo, GOW, etc), and Nintendo's (Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc) 1st party titles aren't going anywhere.

As far as 3rd party, I don't see any exclusives.
Timed exclusives maybe but other than that I don't see why a 3rd party developer would do that from a financial POV.

NI No Kuni, Dragon's Crown, Tales of Xillia , One Piece Pirate Warriors etc. All out this year and exclusive

There are still going to be a lot of third party exclusives but as you can tell most will be from Japan since Xbox died a long time ago over there.

Also some Killzone Art

Do any of you know if you're able to install the games on the system without using the disc(s) everytime?

Looks hot, the lighting in all the next-gen trailers stood out to me the most, magnificent.

Sony considering Gold, Silver & Platinum memberships for PS4's online services

Sony could introduce a tier-based subscription model for PlayStation 4's range of online services, SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has teased.Speaking to The Guardian following PlayStation 4's reveal last week, Yoshida suggested that Sony could take a leaf out of Microsoft's book for its upcoming console and adopt a "gold, silver or platinum" membership similar to Xbox LIVE.

"As more and more services and contents become available digitally, we'll have more of an option to create attractive packages," said Yoshida. "So hypothetically we can look at different models – like a cable TV company.

"We could have gold, silver or platinum levels of membership, something like that. We can do subscription services when we have more content – especially now that we have the Gaikai technology available. With one subscription you have access to thousands of games – that's our dream."

Sony unveiled PlayStation 4's range of online services alongside the console last week, including the option to share and stream content with friends over PlayStation Network, and the ability to instantly try any PlayStation 4 game from the online store.

It isn't yet known whether each online service will require a certain type of membership to access, or whether they will available to everybody.

"PlayStation Plus has been a great success this year," he said. "It's growing strongly, it's had tremendous critical acclaim for the value it offers and it has grown very sharply both in the UK and across the world. That's an exciting model about how we're bringing games to gamers at a great value price point, packaging it up neatly within a subscription.

"Where do we take that? Well, we're not able to go into the detail for what that might look like for PS4 just yet, but it's certainly an exciting development that we've gained some experience in and understand better now. We know what people like and we've got our hands around the right amount of content at the right level at the right time, so all of that work I'm sure is going to stand us in good stead at least on PS3 and maybe more in some evolved form."

PS4 Dualshock motion control “possible, but in a different way than the full Move”

The DualShock 4 features a ‘light bar’ on the front and at its recent PS4 reveal there was mention of it being able to track player position. That wasn’t elaborated on further but now Denny has now confirmed the full extent of the controller’s abilities. “So its not a Move controller because the Move controller is different and will be compatible with PlayStation 4 and the new camera,” he said.

Talking about what the new pad would be able to do Denny explained: “The feature your talking about is the light bar and how that may interact with the camera. Obviously the new 3D stereo camera and HD feed [will] be a lot better with AR aspects, and it can track the light source clearly in 3D so there are going to be features possible in a motion sense there. And obviously the DualShock 4 has improved SixAxis motion sensing so motion gaming is possible with the new controller”.

But while a degree of motion gaming will be possible with the new set up it will be, “in a different way than the full Move” according to Denny. Largely because the Move controller “is more free in design to do more motion”. Because of this this the two will be kept separate with Denny concluding. “I think the way to to look at the camera use and the light bar for the DualShock 4 it is that it adds new more possibilities to the DualShock controller rather than thinking of it as a separate Move controller”.

Does Sony not realized one of the things they had over Xbox was free online gaming??

Can't wait for Respawn to show what new IP they launching for next-gen

I'm excited too but a couple things I'm worried about

-Respawn had all 4 project leads from COD come over to the company. So far, 3 of those 4 have left the company. Including the lead engineer behind the COD engine and the designer who played the biggest part in creating COD4's multiplayer

-Second their best multiplayer map designer left the company too, Alex Roycewicz. Google his name to see the amont of classic maps dude designed.
