The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Pre-ordered mine today at my local Gamestop.
Was ready to trade in my first gen Xbox 360 until I found out that their 30% trade in value towards an E3 product ended yesterday.

Anyone how often Gamestop does promos from trade ins and in this case, game systems.

Anyone here gonna cope COD over BF4?
I hope to god Ghost brings more competitive gameplay like COD4...

I'm on the fence. As good as bf looks, I don't game that seriously and would prefer a less tactical game for multiplayer. I wanna take down buildings though

^ I'm on the fence about BF4 too. I preordered BF4 but I've been a cod guy since cod4. I'm thinking about switching up my preorder depending on what the ghost multiplayer reveal looks like.

Ran across this interesting article. Sony is not screwing around over the next year or two when it comes to the PS4.

What’s Next: A Look at the PS4′s Upcoming Unannounced Exclusives

June 17, 2013 Written by Sebastian Moss

With E3 over, it’s easy to be sad and despondent that F5ing the internet no longer leads to game reveals. But while the biggest gaming event of the year is behind us, it doesn’t mean that we’ve seen everything there is to see.

To keep you all excited, today we’ll take a look at everything that is known about the PS4′s unannounced upcoming exclusives, covering some stuff that we talked about before on Daily Reaction, as well as new information and rumors. For announced games, head over to our mega-PS4 article.

First up is Sony Santa Monica’s new IP – we all thought it would be at E3 because it was listed by TwitchTV, but that was just their trollish way of sneaking in The Order: 1886 from Ready at Dawn without anyone noticing. After the release of God of War III, the Santa Monica team split up – one group working on GOW: Ascension, the other on a new IP, thought to be helmed by Stig Asmussen to make a new IP.

Just before E3, LittleBigPlanet 3 was spotted on a resume, with Sonic & All-Stars Racing/LittleBigPlanet 2 Cross Controller pack developers Sumo Digital being outed as the guys behind it. Media Molecule has already made the 2.5D Play.Create.Share game a truly incredible experience, which is why many guess that Sumo will try to mix things up and go 3D – a move that may seem all the more intelligent now that Microsoft have announced a 3D game creator/sharer for Xbox One, Project Spark.

As for Media Molecule themselves, they’re a small studio that is mainly focusing on Vita game Tearaway, but they have invested heavily in PS4 R&D. One project is the PS4 sculpting game… but we don’t know if that’ll become an actual game. Job listings have said that they’re creating something “even more ambitious than LittleBigPlanet”.

The other big UK studio is SCE London, who have been very quiet since the PS4′s unveiling, and likely will remain so until gamescom. They want their graphics to “set the bar for the industry” and they were hiring for an AAA character action game, but we’ll probably get more stuff from the EyePet team that makes use of the new PlayStation Camera. With Wonderbook utterly failing to ignite the charts (blame Sony’s marketing team/budget), it’s unlikely that that’ll come to PS4.

Elsewhere in Europe, Guerrilla Games announced a new IP was in development in 2010. By all usual development standards, we should should have heard about this game by now, but considering Killzone Shadow Fall is out this holiday, they’re clearly trying to focus publicity on that game instead. As The Order: 1886 was trademarked in GG’s homeland, a lot of people incorrectly assumed that was the name, but we now know otherwise.

GG and Santa Monica aren’t the only studio with two main teams – Naughty Dog split in half after Uncharted 3 shipped. Considering the critical acclaim, strong sales, upcoming movie and the fact that Naughty Dog said they divided their team up by moving the people who wanted to make something new over to TLOU, it’s pretty much guaranteed that the game is Uncharted 4. Of course, just like Killzone SF isn’t Killzone 4 and inFamous SS isn’t inFamous 3, they’ll call it something different so that next-gen newcomers don’t think that they can’t play the game without playing the past titles.

SCE San Diego Studio have been hiring for a PS4 game for a while, and everyone’s money is on more MLB.

The other day we uncovered a Zindagi job listing for online multiplayer. The second party studio’s PS4 exclusive motion game is set for this holiday, barring delays, so we should hear more soon. The only question is whether this is Sports Champions 3 or a new IP.

Another second party studio is of course Quantic Dream, who seem to be working on Singularity for PS4, and have released a beautiful working tech demo of a PS4 engine, but as Beyond is their main focus, don’t expect much about this for years.

Over on the PSN side, Super Stardust HD is set to get a ‘spiritual successor’ from Housemarque for PS4, while Giant Sparrow have announced that that they’re developing a game tentatively titled Edith Finch, after creating the awesome The Unfinished Swan for PS3.

Then there’s the titles in development we know next to nothing about – titles from Tarsier Studios (The City of Metronome perhaps?), Supermassive Games and Ovosonico (new IP), and whatever SCE Japan decide to cook up. Not only that, but Sony allowing self publishing and sending dev kits out to hundreds of developers means that there’ll be a ton of console exclusive IPs, many of which will also be on PC.

Outside of games, we also uncovered what seems to be a PSN bidding platform, and a video streaming service, titled Bid for Greatness and Gateways to Greatness respectively.

The crazy thing is, even when you add all these games to the confirmed PS4 titles like inFamous, DriveClub, Killzone and The Order, it doesn’t reach the 30 games Sony has announced are in development for PS4 by SCE Worldwide Studios – 20 of which are out this year.

It's going to look like every other COD.

BF isn't that strategic really. Just capture points on the map, kill people, and blow up vehicles. All there is to it. You don't have to be nearly as coordinated as the e3 demo.

Also don't snipe. If you snipe in battlefield you suck.

Haha. Maybe i was a little harsh. But when your team has no points capped and there's 7-10 dumb ***** sniping the whole round not gettin within 300 yards of a cap it's infuriating.

Probably gonna preorder sometime this summer but am I the only one who's a little scared to buy the first models of a new console? Like what if it has defects, but I'm probably just being over cautious

Well I'll give you some differences off the top of my head that would make me pick BF4 over COD:Ghosts.

A great variety of vehicles which adds a dimension to the fight.
Scale of level.
Destruction of a lot of elements of the level.
Pacing is a bit more methodical.
More intriguing story.

....but hey, I guess because people will choose to go Rambo means that it will be a carbon copy of Call Of Duty.:rolleyes

I could never get into battlefield.

I like cod more.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I understand, I get in the mood for both of them at different times. COD when I want to just jump in and have fun. Battlefield when I want to do more things. They just feel different.

Does anyone know if Custom Music sound tracks while playing games will be available? I know it was a standard 360 feature that was patented so PS3 had to rely on developers making the option available in the actual games.
More info on the bolded please.
I thought that the ps3 couldn't do that because of a OS issue or something.
You can play music on the ps3, but why not during gameplay?

Is anyone looking forward to killzone, the only game im preordering is watch dogs and feel i should get something else so i dont bore myself to much just playing watch dogs which looks like it wont happen but i get bored fast. Im stuck between that, BF and ghost.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of launch day consoles but I stay in the middle of nowhere w/o a system so I gotta do it. I left my ps3 w/ my brother when I moved & never got another one, I'm thinking about picking up one from cl until this ps4 drop

BF takes a bit getting used too if your coming from COD, you can't just go out run and gun.....it's all about team works, and IMO takes more skills. Your k/d ratio don't matter either on BF it's all about score per min. ..If you have a group of friends that games together I recommend trying BF together ....it will make the transition easier and much more fun.

Btw. sniping takes more skills on BF and much more satisfying feelings when you snipe a fool from fars away and watch his squad mate fled after seeing his buddy get murked, if you u maaaad skills sniping the pilot off a helo ....LOL

@8tothe24

Nice article. Sony is definitely going to be going hard on the PS4. Quantic dreams, Naughty Dog, SSM and Polyphony are all going to be jumping on after their PS3 games.

I can't wait for Gamescom and TGS.

:smh: Did you not watch Quantic Dream's presentation? I saw their demo behind closed doors and then had dinner and drinks with a few of their technical leads/programmers. Their engine is amazing from a technical perspective.

They were only using half the RAM and about 45% of the processor. :x

Did anyone else who went to E3 see their stuff in the presentation booth or behind closed doors?

:wow: :wow:
Only half the RAM and CPU! wow
I saw people trying to downgrade the dark sorcerer tech demo because it was in a room and not in an open environment with a long draw distance but looks like they weren't even close to the limit.
Good thing also is that quantic dreams games look better than their tech demos.

Did they have another presentation booth or is it the same one that is on the Playstation Youtube channel?

So what's up with this game that's supposedly coming out, that's a big fan favorite, that's coming to the next gen, thats embargo'd everywhere until tomorrow? Hybrid... any clues?!!?

I always give it a few months before I pick a new console up. The whole having it at launch thing was never really a big deal for me, so I don't mind waiting. I also have PS3 games that I haven't played yet still.

ONLY LAUNCH TITLES I'M INTERESTED IN ARE KILLZONE, BATTLEFIELD, AND COD. MAYBE NBA 2K...MAYBE.

You're gaming experience sounds one dimensional. I mean, yes, I want those three as well, but not ONLY those three on launch day. KillZone and COD are a MUST for me. Battlefield I would like to cop on launch day as well, but I would like to play something other than a FPS the day I open my console

There aren't any other titles that are intriguing to you? Or are you just a shoot em up kinda guy? Just curious, don't take my post the wrong way. There's just so many good titles dropping on release day its kind of odd that you'd only want the shooters, unless thats just your taste in games.

Why does 2 USB port suck?
My 360 has 2 but I nvr used it.
What u use em for?
With bluetooth everything, only thing I use usb ports for is charging controllers.

Arcade Sticks, Racing Wheels, external HDD, etc.

ELDER SCROLLS NIKETALK CLAN

Lets do this pleighboii :pimp:

Isn't PS4 Keyboard and Mouse compatible?

Have a feeling that Gamestop is taking more pre-orders than they can fulfill to be guaranteed for launch day. Alot of people will be disappointed come release date.
