The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

upgraded PS4 or PS4.5 sounds like a terrible idea.

I mean, would Sony really want to fracture their gaming community?

If you're a developer, would you even bother shooting for the top specs on a PS4.5 or just ship your game optimized for original PS4, knowing it will run on both?

Even if you could make games available for both, with each running at settings appropriate to the respective hardware, how does that affect online gaming, when PS4 and PS4.5's come together?
there wouldn't be any fracturing, people who want to upgrade do so and people who dont dont

for developers, how is this any different from devs working on weaker consoles and on the ps4?

rocket league shows that no one cares about differences

the big issue im seeing online has to do with insecurity, people not being happy that there's a more powerful ps4+, all of a sudden thinking their ps4 is obsolete

I wouldn't mind trading/selling my ps4 to get a new version of the same console. Consoles have been revised before and it rarely created an issue before. I wonder what the console will look like because usually revised consoles get a new look.

Sup, fellas.

Who here is getting the psvr?

Guy at gamestop told me they Will take preorders on tuesday.

You have to put atleast $100 down. I Will be preordering.

Placed my pre-order but I was late by an hour so I might not get it on release day.
It's still selling well on Amazon UK and sold out on Amazon Germany. It'll be interesting to see what happens on Tuesday.

I'll try and get the camera before October but it's still going to be an expensive launch as well when you factor in games.

Hoping to get Rigz, EVE Valkyrie and PS VR worlds at launch. Hopefully the Driveclub VR update is out by launch too.

I think the aim will be similar to development for PC's. They will target the lower spec'd machine knowing that the more powerful machine, in this case the PS4.5 will have left over resources to push more effects or framerate from 30 to 60fps.
I don't think they're aiming for 4K resolution since that's a big jump.

I think it's not a bad idea if we have a long generation like the last one, 8 years plus but I'll rather just wait for the PS5

Action platformer Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island is coming to PS4
A nostalgic adventure firmly in the Jak & Daxter mold

Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island follows the best traditions of the third person platformer/action genre. The game follows two unlikely heroes on an adventure to prevent the villainous CRT from conquering their home and turning it into a wasteland.
If you enjoy classic 3D platformers like Crash Bandicoot or the Jak & Daxter series, we hope you will instantly fall in love with Skylar & Plux. Expect humour, colourful characters and hours of great gameplay for both fans of the genre and newcomers to 3D platformers.

Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island will be released on PlayStation 4 later in 2016. You can follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook and I look forward to showing you more stuff in the coming months! Meanwhile, enjoy the first screenshots and teaser trailer. I hope you like it!

Looks great. Good to see another 3D platformer in addition to Ratchet and Clank this year.
They need to make a comeback

Eh I don't see myself upgrading unless my PS4 craps out. I got a 2TB HDD and it works fine. It's a little loud but I hardly ever notice it. There'd have to be something significant about it for me to consider upgrading.
Exactly same here

That Skylar and Plux games looks interesting.

Will definitely be checking for it later this year.

Can anyone here let me use their Best Buy GCU for a purchase? I'm trying to buy a copy of FO4 but have went over the yearly limit of 3 copies. It'll add 2x the points to your account since I have a coupon.
Info on Batman:
Why make a Batman game? There are plenty of games where you feel like Batman - this gives you insight on Bruce.

What is the split between Bruce and Batman in the story? They are pushing for more Bruce than typical games (compared to movies; fair share of both)

How will the game handle playing as Bruce/Batman? Sometimes, you get to directly choose playing as either Bruce or Batman in a scene.

When does the game release? This Summer

What choices do you make? As Batman, you can decide between violence or mercy when confronting someone. As both Bruce/Batman, you have lots of power in being able to shape what the city looks like, your friendships, etc.

What will the style of the game be like? Telltale will embrace their own style/identity. They are aiming for an M rating. It won't be photorealistic - it will use a comic art style. Expect something similar to Wolf.

How will the Telltale engine be? "Very upgraded" from past Telltale games. More significant step up from past games on a technical/creative level than previous ttg games. Premiering lots of "new" TTG stuff in Batman.

What villains are in the game? No comment from Telltale for now.

How Telltale responds to criticisms from lots of work: They have grown a lot, currently have 350 people. Had 70 people around Season 1. Built to have four full projects at once, growing quick is hard but they reached end goal, you will see Telltale settling in this year. You will see "episodes coming out on time," new technology will "finally blossom." They aim to make Telltale feel more like a movie studio than a game company - they look to Netflix, HBO, etc
I don't agree with it, but I respect it.

TellTale x Fullmetal Alchemist?

Been playing UFC 2 its fun but the clinch/ground game reign supreme again and I get whooped lol. Thank the gods for Knockout Mode.

Be careful with that VR stuff GHIMS

I don't want you ending up like Lawnmower Man

:nerd:
I've had my fair share of TTG. I tried to play TWD S2 and just couldn't. I just can't deal with the gameplay anymore. Their storytelling is :pimp: tho

Are any of the Arkham Batman games worth buying?
I'm in the minority, but Arkham Asylum and Origins are my two favorites.  For gameplay, City is at the top, but I thought the story was ****.

Arkham Knight was ruined by being forced to use the Batmobile so much.

Every piece of new tech is sold at a premium.

You ever see one of those old Best Buy ads with PC's with pathetic specs by today standards, but cost 2-3x the price of a PC today? Remember what HDTV's used to cost when they were first available?

We're at that stage in consumer VR products. If you want to be one of the first in on the experience, you're gonna have to pay up.
