The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I was excited about the use of tablets too. My main game is Madden and I really don't see how a tablet can be incorporated in live play. I love and hate gimmicks but as I get older I've learn to save my money rather than feed into them.

At the very least, I think it'd be pretty cool to use an iPad or iPhone as your playbook in Madden, just swipe through the multiple formations on the iPad and choose a play, even better when your buddy next to you now can't see 1 of the 3 plays you could have chosen using X, / \, or O.

And remote play on the Vita sounds pretty tight!

Man I pray they fix Madden this gen. :smh:

I didn't even waste my money on that trash this year. And I'm prepared to do the same until EA get their **** together. I will play the show all ******g football season. Before I buy another trash madden.

 worst company ever.

Don't wanna turn this into a Madden thread but what are your issues with it? I see dudes complain about it every year and say how much better 2k is and I feel like the one person who doesn't know better. I thought 13 was really good aside from the players being clumsy in the beginning. The Madden that launched on the ps3 was the last one that was absolute trash. IMO.

Kaz Hirai: PS4 is for gamers

Sony CEO plays down ‘media hub’ and says PlayStation 4 is for gamers

Sony chief executive Kazuo Hirai said today that the PlayStation 4 will differ from Microsoft’s Xbox One, which is being pitched as an all-in-one entertainment box in the living room.

He spoke at the D11 conference hosted by AllThingsD. He was joined by Jed York, the chief executive and owner of the San Francisco 49ers, and they talked about the fan experience Sony is helping to create for the 49ers’ new high-tech stadium in Santa Clara. He made the remarks in response to a question from moderator Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal.

Hirai acknowledged the PS4 will have non-game applications. But Sony will not emphasize those at the outset as it did with the launch of the PlayStation 3 game console in 2006. The PS4 is coming out this fall.

He said Sony would add other entertainment apps, “But that’s after we establish the platform as a video game platform. We want to make sure that we are there for the gamers with our PS4 as well. They will go beyond this, but they’ll definitely start with gamer first.

By contrast, Microsoft’s Xbox One unveiling had lots of apps that have nothing to do with games, from using voice commands to change TV channels to using Skype while watching shows.

This is great.

At the end of the day, I just want to play GAMES.

That's what I bought it for, that's it sole intent. All that other stuff is cool, but I'm not spending $300 - $400 so I can talk to my console and it can talk back.

I feel like my ps3 is already a media hub. I play music from it, while watching sports on tv. I have tons of stuff saved to the harddrive and I watch tons of netflix, hulu, amazon, laugh factory, and youtube. As long as they bring the same abilities to the PS4, maybe let me play MKVs, and Ill be happy with its "media hub" capabilities.

Xperia Z and the Xperia Tablet Z play MKV's and I think I heard their latest TV's do as well so it won't surprise me if the PS4 does as well.

/\ first time seeing that DualShock 4 vid.

Not gona lie, for some reason that vid about the damb controller got me hyped about the PS4:

- DS4 looks little more comfortable with it being bigger, bigger grips, and bigger L1/R1 buttons
- speaker on the controller (even though its a ripoff of the Wii controller, but a feature I actually liked) would bring something extra to games
- light bar/touchpad looks like it can be used creatively in games

but SMH at having to pay extra for the Camera, my guess it to keep initial costs down.

Saw this comment on the bottom.

" Sony isn't stupid enough to sell the camera separately. They would nullify features built in to the controller. With out a camera the light bar is useless. Then they would fragment their market which would make devs not as inclined to use the features.

And to top it off they dont want to appear to have less than the XBOX ONE which has made the very popular kinect sensor standard for every system.

Like I said Sony isnt that stupid."

Makes some sense to me. I don't care for the camera tho.

they'll do it (sell without) if it can give them a price advantage

ive said all along that they wanted to wait until after MS announced date and price to counter when people were asking "why no date or price" back in feb

there is some amount of people out there who will buy xbone regardless but for a lot of people out there, more power + lower price will turn heads

im sure theyll be watching MS's conference with a strategy planned out for price counters

the only price sony will have a hard time countering is if MS decides to 99 + 2 years of $15/month for live but im sure sony's already thought of how

DC Universe Online and Planetside 2 Coming to PlayStation 4

When Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 wasn't going to be backwards compatible or allow you to download current PlayStation Network titles, DC Universe Online players freaked out. Had the hours spent creating heroes and villains in the MMO been a waste?

Today, Sony Online Entertainment has an answer: no. DC Universe Online is coming to the PlayStation 4 -- and so is Planetside 2, the first-person shooter MMO currently available for PC.

Seeing as how we don't know when the PS4 will be released, SOE kept the release dates for DCUO and Planetside 2 loose and simply said the PS4 versions will be available as free-to-play digital downloads this year.

They're really amping it up with the MMO's. All that's left now is Final Fantasy XIV
