The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

With a lot of ppl getting bad PS4s, when do you all think the second wave of systems will be on shelves ? That's when I want to buy, it seems the beta bugs are always fixed in the second wave of systems

What I usually do is buy a second wave PS4 and then return my old one as the new one. If they ask why I'm retuning it I always say oh my son wanted an xbox.

Why cant I? If im spending $400+ on something, why shouldnt i be concerned when i see droves of people saying their system isnt working? I can see if this was a HISENSE or WESTINGHOUSE console..........but this is Sony.

I cant remember ever seeing this many people receiving a device DOA..........Console or not.

When the xbox 360 launched, a LOT of people's got ROD within a month of using the damn thing. I remember I was so happy when I didn't pick one up.

Is there a huge difference between playing a ps4 on a 720p tv and a 1080p tv?
Big Difference

1280 x 720 = 921,600 pixels

1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels

More than double the amount of pixels.
Anyone with a 720p or HD Ready TV should be looking to change that ASAP.

Warframe is pretty damn good !

:pimp:

My thoughts

1.Smooth system so far knock on wood.
2.Great picture quality
3. Quiet System
4.Knack is fun like I expected:nthat:

I expect great things this gen

didn't think i would have this much fun with NFS Rivals, its pretty :pimp: so far

Good to hear the games i want are good. NFS and Warframe, maybe Knack down the line.

You can only talk to the people in your squad.

It wasn't like this before. You could hear everyone. This changed after an update. This was way back when online first started though. It's kind of nice though. I hate hearing annoying *** kids saying stupid stuff, but then again sometimes the conversations people have are just so stupid that they're amazing and then I feel as stupid as the dumb conversation they were having.

Madden with that Re vitiligo tech.

I'm at work checking out the user guide online. I didn't even know you could copy and paste text. Was this an option on the ps3?
Maybe not a big deal to you guys but I thought it was cool

Assassin's Creed 4 on PS4 is 900p, will patch to add 1080P and AA

ACGA_SP_111_MayanTemple_Environment.jpg

Marking yet another milestone for the killer franchise, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag on the PlayStation 4 is the first Assassin’s Creed game to be rendered in true native 1080p. In other words, the already gorgeous game will be, well… even more gorgeous when it sets sail on the PS4.

One small caveat: players will need to download a title update (available shortly after release) to enjoy the full 1080p native resolution.

Even without the title update, the game is undeniably stunning on next-gen consoles. Indeed, as Associate Producer Sylvain Trottier suggests, some players might not even be able to tell the difference. That’s because the game, as shipped, is being rendered on next-gen at a resolution that’s very close to 1080p (900p, if you’re curious), and the upscaling process barely adjusts the image.

If it’s running at 720p vs 1080p, you’re going to notice the difference, by far,” Trottier explains. “But if it’s set at a resolution that’s very close, where most of the pixels are already there in internal processing, most people won’t see any difference.” Those who can spot the differences might note that the game would be, in some very subtle ways, slightly less crisp but a tiny bit smoother.

But why ship at 900p in the first place? To meet an essential goal: deliver a visually brilliant game at a steady 30 frames per second (the industry gold standard for open-world games). Finishing the game at 900p gave the development team the extra room in terms of the GPU and CPU usage to ensure the framerate never dips below 30 frames per second. The team then used the time between the ship date and the release to focus on a title update that could deliver native 1080p resolution on the PS4.

But they didn’t stop there.

“The most important part of this title update is not necessarily 1080p native resolution,” Trottier smiles. “It’s the fact that even when we were done with the project, even when we were finished with the certification and everything else, even when most of the engineers had started to work on other projects – like we always do at Ubisoft – some of my engineers continued to work on Black Flag and they even developed a brand-new anti-aliasing technique.” (Anti-aliasing is a technique used to diminish the occasional appearance of jagged edges in computer-generated graphics.)

Indeed, along with the full 1080p native resolution, the visuals have been improved even further, simply because the engineers knew that with the additional time they could do even more. So they did. And now, not only will you see every single miniscule pixel in glorious 1080p native resolution on the PS4 – exactly as the artists rendered it – but you’ll also see an even cleaner, clearer and more brilliant moving image than anyone even imagined. (Pay special attention to finer details like the ropes on the ships if you want to get an eyeful of what we’re talking about.) And the best news for gamers on the latest next-gen systems? This anti-aliasing technique will be available for both PS4 and Xbox One.

Those who bought AC4 should stick it at the bottom of the pile until the update drops.
It's disappointing them sending out lower res games to reviewers but at least it's getting patched in.

Hearing about a bunch of DOA PS4`s..................Is this true? Or just 360 stans on that B.S.???

Think im gonna wait a few weeks to see how things turn out..........Not too big on day one copping since ill only play every few days or so anyway. (if at all, i havent touched my PS3 in weeks)

All electronics have their malfunctions. Can't be worried about purchasing something that you think won't work.

i think you need to reevaulate that statement, especially for a $400+ product

For the person who asked about 1080 vs 720 yeah there's a big difference. When I took it the ps4 from the living room to the bed I definitely noticed especially in 2k.

My question is does 60 ghz vs 120 ghz matter for gaming? Looking to grab a new tv

My only issue is connecting to BF multiplayer. I am signed into PSN but I keep being told that I have to be connected to the network to play online.

Anyone else had to deal with this and how did you fix it?

Doesn't matter for gaming. Great for sports though.

Downloading all the free games right now. Gonna try Resogun first then warframe.

With bf just do a quick match and anything but conquest and it finds a game instantly
