The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I loved FF IX, Im a sucker for romantic stories...Zidane and Dagger at the end

 Of course, FF X, Yuna and Tidus

 I swear FF VIII has the best battle theme, it's so triumphant

  the only time you needed strategies for 7,8,and 9 was for optional bosses; for FF 12 and 13 you definitely needed strategies to progress in the game

I think the best battle theme for FF games would definitely be FF VII or FF VI. IMO VII just makes you ready to whoop some asss, VI is the same way especially with the intro

My brother beat FF XIII by spamming X.  No strategy involved at all.

You have to change your paradigms in FF XIII, I think I get the point you are making but no way you beat the game without some sort of strategy

I think you're being a slight bit facetious. The main story you might be able to theoretically do that with on easy difficulty, however there were a few bosses you needed to change paradigms at key moments to stay alive, let alone beat them. But it was alot of point A to point B and not alot of thought was needed.

End game content was much more difficult.

Hell, original XIII didn't even have easy mode I could only imagine trying to plat that game by mashing X, especially when fighting Adamantoise, hell nah man

okay maybe not literally just pressing x.  but the majority of what i watched him play, he was just pressing x or quickly doing some other type of attack? it looked very simple.

VIII is what got me into the series. I bought it because of a friend saying how good it was and seeing the FMV's in the commercials. I immediately went out and got VII after finishing it, then played through the back catalog as they were released on PSOne.

While it just misses out on my top 5 of the series, it does have a special meaning for being the first one I played. The whole Laguna section is still weird to me.

Looks like a new tony hawk game is in the works. I was never a fan of skate boarding or anything but the old tony hawk games were the ****.

all the pro skaters and underground. I hope it turns out like those and comes out for ps4
man o man! ive been wondering when they would revive the series. I've been craving a good skateboarding game so bad, i actually went out and bought tony hawks pro skater 1 and 2 like 2 weeks ago for N64 and have been playing those. lmaoooo

Pro skater 4 for xbox was the best one hands down, I liked making my own park, they had Jango Fett as an unlockable :pimp:

Not a skater but I cant wait neither, hopefully its just like the old ones with ALOT of additions, I can see lil wayne as an unlockable this time lol

   it's just the speed and how the paradigm forced you to select abilities of the role made it seem tedious. If you're fast and have the right roles in your set-up then it could look simple, if not then Long Gui and other late game monsters can wash you pretty fast

VI will always be my favorite, the number of characters in that, that OST, story line, and of course Kefka

X is possibly my second favorite. I know many knock the voice acting but who really gives a damn, the story in that game is one of the greatest IMO. Once again the OST just flows with everything and who doesn't like "To Zanarkand"

IX is tied for my 3rd fav with VII. Zidane is that dude man. I don't think the story was the greatest but the gameplay, variety of characters and music was enough for me. I really liked Kuja as well.

VII has a dark moody vibe unlike any other FF game IMO. Some knock Cloud as being emo, cry baby etc. He's alright in my book. That battle theme, materia, characters, and that motorcycle chase scene

 and of course Sephiroth

Currently playing through VIII. Although not my favorite, I can appreciate the different approach to the way you battle, definitely requires strategy IMO. I also like figuring out different junction/magic combos. The GFs are pretty bad asss too. Squall might be one of my favorite FF characters, just wants to be left alone and minds his own business. Although Im sure Rinoa changes that towards the end

Regretfully never finished XII, my PS2 died on me. Im really hoping for a HD version. Ill take it before FF XV. I enjoyed the story and the enviorments. Took awhile but enjoyed the battles, especially grinding levels. Only thing missing for me was Nobuo Uematsu

I wont bore you guys with the rest of my life stories regarding FF but for the record I enjoyed XIII, and XIII-2 as well

FF VII got me into the series, my brother left the game on one day I just started playing it, ended up in the basement where Vincent was and didn't know what to do (i was only seven)

  when VIII came out it changed everything for me. the laguna section was weird but if you want a better understanding of it

I've probably played through FF VII about 10 times.  I remember my first and only time beating Ruby Weapon.  He sucked up Cloud and my other character, left me with cait sith.  Got a limit break, and got the slots that do insta-death on him.  I was like :wow: WHAAAAA!

When i first played VIII, the graphics were amazing! I thought this is the same system that played VII?  VII looks terrible compared to VIII

IX
VI
-> Tactics
IV
VII
-> Crisis Core
X
VIII
XIV
-> (Havent beaten it, but probably where LR:FF sits)
V
XII
XIII-2
III
I
-> Dirge of Cerberus
II
XIII
-> Dissidia 1 and 2
X-2
XI
-> Mystic Quest
-> Chocobo Racing

Im missing a few spin offs, but thats where my list sits. I can honestly say I dont dislike any, with the exception of Mystic Quest and Chocobo Racing.

X1 already seeing price cuts in the UK...

From 429.99 to 399 with a FREE copy of Titanfall.

Not a good look to have to start cutting prices already.

I'm not really seeing this as a bad thing unless they're taking a bigger loss per console by doing so.

In what world does a consumer NOT want things to get cheaper? ****, I hope they drop the price in the US too soon :lol:

Might grab Persona 2 from that sale just to see what it's hitting for. Damn do I love FF Tactics.

Mystic Quest was simple but had beast asss battle theme and boss theme. I actually still have the SNES cartridge amongst my collection

Intentionally skipped Ehrgeiz. The hate of renting that game after seeing Cloud and having it be a fighting game has never subsided.

Mystic Quest (havent played it in probably 15 years) was just too far a departure from the series for me. I found more in common with Link to the Past than FF. Might have to replay it as an adult, but I really didnt enjoy it as a kid.

8=9>12>7>the rest either sucks or havent played.

currently playing ff6/tactics on the ipad tho.

with that said,

tales series>>>>>>>>>>>>ff

square havent been the same since the ps1 days :smh:

It was just a simple game. I read somewhere that Square released it in NA because they thought traditional FF games were too complicated for us.
laugh.gif
 Not sure if I beleive it seeing as how we did get FF on the NES but then again that game wasn't all the advanced and as I said before MQ is simple as hell
