The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Are you in Temecula ?

30 minutes down south here in San Diego it's not even that hard to walk into a Best Buy, Walmart, or Gamestop to find one.

Word, I'm not sure if Sony is srs about this so called PS4 shortage. You can find them ANYWHERE here in Atlanta, I mean, ANYWHERE. Been that way for a while.

Bigger and medium size cities yes I'd say they are easier to find.

Smaller cities though or rural places they are probably hard to find.Whenever I read the PS4 reddit page people in Europe say it's
hard as hell to find them in stock.

Clearly Sony right now is focused on winning the United States turf first this gen.Which they were getting beat last gen against the Xbox 360.

There was a while where you couldn't find em anywhere. Now you can find them in some place but not all. Sony sells to stores, and while walmart might want to purchase 25 PS4s for a location, Sony can only give them 10. Still a shortage, but not as bad as unavailability. Production is catching up to demand, and they estimate by summer they will have caught up.

Yeah I was reading your post like "does he know something we don't". Because another push back wouldn't have been that surprising, just even more disappointing and worrisome.

Only that Ubisoft and disappointment are two words never very far from one another. I saw next month after forgetting that someone posted that before and immediately thought "no way"

Hope it is good :pimp:

40 arrived Friday evening at a local Future Shop here and were all sold out before 11 am Saturday.

Other than ordering online, you can't get them in southern Alberta. Calgary was sold out as of last week.

I think my local GameStops have been getting in 3-5 at a time, same with BB. Most of the time people are on FB and Twitter asking where they can one, so as soon as word gets out they're gone within minutes

The Wolf Among Us Episode 3 Release Dates Announced
Telltales' next installment in the fantasy series is coming next week.
by Mike Mahardy APRIL 2, 2014
The next episode in Telltale Games' adventure noir The Wolf Among Us is coming to all platforms next week.

Episode 3, titled A Crooked Mile, will release Tuesday, April 8 for PC and Mac worldwide, and for PlayStation 3 in North America. The episode releases for Xbox 360 worldwide and on PS3 in Europe the next day, April 9. A Crooked Mile releases next week for iOS as well, though no concrete date was given on Telltale's Twitter account.

Telltale's new trailer follows detective Bigby Wolf as he tracks down the prime suspect in a recent murder case, and showcases the various other groups interested in the same person. Telltale provided a spoiler warning at the trailer's outset, as there are potential spoilers for anyone who hasn't completed Episode 1 and 2 yet.

IGN called Smoke and Mirrors, the most recent episode, a great second act to the series, packed with memorable characters and screens, despite not doing much to advance the plot. Check out the full review here.

I been seeing them around a lot more lately around MN.

Just never at Target

But my GS had them and TrU has em.. BB had them when I went to look for xbone headset adapter

Where I live in South Florida, the area i live Broward. Gamestops seem to have them, havnt seen one in a walmart since release date, dont know about best buys tho.

The B2G1 free at Traget starts next week, right? Anybody know if you'll be able to use it to pre-order games?

^ usually not. im getting games as placeholders and exchanging them at walmart down the road when more games release

At least the demand & shortages aren't as bad like when the PS2 dropped 2 gens ago.

I remember rhe first PS2 I got wasn't until late April 2001 and Gamestop was being real shady forcing people to buy a extra controller, a memory card, and 3 games :smh:

PS2 was launched had only 500k total units made lol
PS3 also was only 500k available for launch (I think?)

They did a way better job producing them this time around, although still couldn't meet launch demand.

edit: fixed a mistake

As a big Star Wars fan, this is good news! EA being involved, makes it bad news.

Uncharted 4 Director Amy Hennig Joins Visceral's Star Wars Project
by Mitch Dyer APRIL 3, 2014
Following her departure from Naughty Dog earlier this year, Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig has joined Visceral Games.

Hennig serves as creative director on Visceral's unannounced Star Wars project, which may be co-developed by EA Canada.

"Over the last few weeks, Amy and I have spent a lot of time talking about what her first project would be," Visceral VP Steve Papoutsis wrote on EA.com. "There are a lot of different directions we could have gone, but I could sense that what really excited her about this opportunity (because let’s face it, we weren’t the only ones knocking at her door) was Star Wars. Amy’s a huge fan. We happen to be making a Star Wars game. Just thinking about the possibilities made both of us even more excited about having her join the team."

Papoutsis also said, "As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired her approach to creative development – focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player."

Hennig previously worked as creative director on the Uncharted series, and worked with Crystal Dynamics on The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. EA, meanwhile, intends to make Star Wars games for the next 10 years.

PS3 had shortages mainly because blu-ray & the cell processor was new tech at the time of the launch and they were having production shortages.

Best believe they did this to get her to work with them:

You're remembering incorrectly, the PS2 came out in Japan in March of 2000 and didn't come out in the US until late October 2000. I remember being on Spring Break and seeing an import shop on St. Marks in NYC and they had a few Japanese consoles for crazy taxed prices. I also vividly remember the launch in the US because I was working at Circuit City at the time and it seemed like the only game we ever had in stock was Fantavision.

Your right, I was thinking of the PS3 that was release a week apart,

Yeah the PS3 release was pretty nuts everywhere. I was long gone from the retail world by then, and didn't even bother to get a ps3 until what seemed like a solid release date for Gran Turismo 5 was set (and even then I think I had my ps3 for a year and a half before the game finally came out)

I had a coworker camp out for 2 nights to make sure he got his, and he ended up getting super sick from being in pretty chilly, wet weather.

Google Shopping says there are consoles available at several Walmarts in our area....  Margate on Atlantic, for example

came in the thread to share my fail...

co-worker was watching an MLB The Show 14 video online....  I asked him when it releases and he's like, "it came out today...."

wake up the next morning all set on copping at Walmart.....  but wait.... my stupid *** forgot it was a PS exclusive and it's not available for the 360

so I leave Walmart with a pocket full of L's and decide it's time to sell the 360 cz now im motivated to grab the PS4.... all because of this game

the L's start piling up when I then realize that the PS4 version doesn't come out until ******* MAY 6TH....

before I can unlist the 360, someone buys the ****.... smh

so now I'm going to be without a console unless I go buy the PS4 now and use it as a Netflix player until May....

really didn't want to buy Ghosts but I guess i have no choice now.... im not a big gamer so im pretty stuck in my ways as far as games go....

Instead of buying COD Ghost's

Why don't you try out the free 2 play games on PS4 like Blacklight Retribution or War Frame ? Heck you don't even need to have a Playstation Plus subscription to play them online.
