The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

So Im reading it takes about 75-100 hours to JUST GET READY for dark aeons and the two optional bosses. :frown:

Don't care. Having a ton of fun with this game. Nice to get a reminder of back when SE was making the best RPG's in the industry.

You can always get lucky and summon Yojimbo and use Zanmato (worked against Dark Valefor) but legitimately it's gonna probably take 90+ hours to plat this FF X.

Looks like my PS4 is going to continue getting neglected, just copped Star Ocean The Last Hope International. This was my favorite game from 360/PS3 gen. Beat it 3 times on 360 and been wanting to play again for awhile now.

Oh 90 hours looks like a conservative estimate to me. I was thinking around 150.... still going to go for it.

Extremely under-rated game. Trophies were hard in it too.

Is this game hard? The only experience I have with RPG's is FFXIII part 1.

Because I've been thinking about getting it on the Vita, is it any good on the vita?

Not hard at all. You can make it to the last boss with a little bit of grinding and beat the game. And if you get stuck, there are a hundred sites and message boards that can assist. And if you enjoy grinding, you can actually get so powerful you one hit the final boss.

The extra content is what is pretty difficult. I've seen it said that the dark aeons and optional bosses are some of the hardest in RPG history.

It is supposed to be great on the Vita. It being a PS2 game originally, it doesnt tax the Vita too much.

Yea after I said 90+ I thought about it but was too busy dodging lightning to correct myself  120-150 hrs seems about right.

On 360 I managed to get about 640-670 GS on Star Ocean...those damn battle trophies. I never got a chance to explore the 2nd post game dungeon, hell didn't even make it past the 1st one. Looking forward to playing again though.

I have it on both PS3/Vita and it plays great on both. A friend of mine even thinks it looks better on Vita, IMO they look identical. I think it's fairly easy while still managing to give you a challenge. They damn near give a tutorial on how to defeat every type of monster and like empire said, there are hundreds of sites that can help, there's a few of us on here who can probably talk you through most parts  I'd cop for the Vita if you're interested and need something to play on Vita.

There are moments of low frame rates while playing the Vita version.  But its nothing that takes away from gameplay and doesn't happen very often.  I enjoy being able to be anywhere in my house and play.

Not hard at all and the story is pretty solid. You'll have fun and want to grind it out.

Now the real question is:

Should I cop Persona 4 (its not the Golden version is it?) on PS3?

I should start bringing my vita to work.  FFX is too good.  I got my first death last night in the Calm Lands.

That big *** plant with the bad breath

confusion
berserk
darkness
silence
poison

was too much

my 3 characters were warded to different effects, but the confusion, berserk and poison had my dudes just attacking their life away.

Damn Marlboros. I caught it there too. Speaking of which I haven't even left the calm lands...
I just got situated in Cali so I haven't even hooked the PS3 up yet

All you need is the ribbon.

By the time you can actually obtain a ribbon, your characters will probably be damn near maxed out

Tomorrow, bout to turn in this crap box boner back to bjs, no homo LMAO. Good riddance. Fired it up perhaps 4 maybe 5 times tops.

Microshaft = complete joke. No, but that's not the full story. See, who has time for it? Sonys ecosystem is too thorough and thick to deal w. microshaft. Personas. Final fantasies. Phantasy (also on ms via Sega collection if memory serves). u got ps one classics. Ps now. Ps plus. Ps 2 emulation. Majority of Ps 3 exclusives can go kick rocks too!

Tlou? Was waiting for it to be free on plus, not holding out,now just get on p4.

UC? Meh. Gow? Meh

GT is flames as are these KH remixes. Other than that...KZ, with yea shadow fall being better than TF and bf
3 & 4, all bias aside.

See & it's still not the full story....

It's the little details. The things that make it all tick and which do not immediately stand outbut prove, time and again, that a great idea will always find a way to shine. So, here it is (and perhaps this is looking too far into things, maybe not enough), the playstation 4's os mirrors the physical appearance of the system itself. This has been done on purpose.

Go check ur ui.
Ull see it basically has two levels. The bottommost pertaining to apps and media and games, the uppermost, all else.

The p4 is itself divided, precisely once through both main views -the top and the front disc-loading side. Initially, only the disc tray side came to mind but yea, the top of the PS4, where the majority of the gloss is, is surely a divided-in-twos section as well. Mind blown. There are, of course, many different wags to consider and interpret this. But for now i will simply say this, no more than two levels will be shown on the whole ui screen at one time outside of folders, and that it's in these little details that I certainly appreciate sony and what it has to offer. The ideas and philosophies of its own age, of the history it is making for itself. Trust, that we each much forge our own paths, single-minded yet collectively. Yet, mostly, single-mindedly.

Also of note is that this relationship btw. aesthetics is not without precedence. The outcry, remember, for the ps 3's initial marketing typeface was loud and clear, it had to go (word to carlo in sopranos). But no,it wasn't all that bad. Even back then I knew that the text was conveying the sleek ideals of the system itself. It couldn't get more obvious then the round part of the letter 'P' in playstation being the same shape as the bottom/side view of the first fat p3.

Who knows what other connections Sony has made regarding their hardware.

Remember also that the modernized PS 2 used a type face very similar to the modernized p3 and p4 text. both the "p" and the " s" has step formations, but only two each!

Thinking back on og and modernized ps 1 and og ps 2 iterations......
