My install took 3 mins . I didn't start the game tho. Can I install the beta while my ps4 is on standby? So I have to start the game for it to install?

You gotta hit level 5 to unlock pvp. So just do the couple story missions they give you in the beginning and you'll be good.

The intro is just you. After that you can run into random players in the wild who you can fight together with but they can't finish missions with you. Then there's the crucible which is traditional PvP multiplayer.
