The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I enjoy platformers. I just prefer to play them on Nintendo consoles because they make the best ones imo. I have played Crash, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Jersey Devil, Spyro etc. All of them were cool and fun but none of them can compare to Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario 64 etc.

Sly 4 was my second favourite game last year behind The Last of Us. I actually platinum'd it and I don't even care about trophies.

I actually started playing Sly 4 on my Vita to help time go by at work.

If they decide to end it with A Thief's End, then I hope they can at least Remaster Uncharted 1-3. As far as a new IP, I would like to see what they can do with survival horror.

I kind of count TLOU as survival horror in a sense. It reminds me of resident evil when it first dropped. I think more puzzles would be great but they arent known for their capcom like puzzles lol

I don't understand the complaints with colorful platformers in comparison to photo-realistic games. I would love a new IP AAA colorful platformer. I miss the days when hack-and-slash action games, platformers, and JRPG's were more abundant. As much as I love shooters or action games with guns, it's a genre that's incredibly over-saturated.

There are Pixar movies that have better, more compelling, and interesting stories than movies acted out with real people. I feel like people perceive these games a certain way because of their exterior. The same way people hate on indy games. Also, a lot of platformers are just plain fun and really good games. Super Mario 3D World is one of the best games that came out last year.

I don't want Naughty Dog to make any game they're not interested in making, but I feel like saying they're "above" platformers or speaking about platformers like they're these lesser games is ridiculous.

You want another Crash Bandicoot boo? It's cool.

I'm thinking...what if...a thief's end is just Sully's fairwell? I mean in the trailer Nate is looking 40ish...so Sully has to be 70ish...Maybe it's just saying bye to him and Nate has more Time in him? Nate could also have a son now...I just can't see them closing the door on such a successful game after just 4 of them. There hasn't been any fatigue yet, nobody is calling it GTA..

The world definitely needs a TLOU pt. deux. I've been banned for a minute, so just catching up on all the news and such lol..did you guys talk about the movie they have in the works already? Probably weeks ago right? lol. Care to refresh me on your thoughts on that?

What does IP mean in this context?

Rayman origins and rayman legends is calling your name, if you're never played them.

Where did I ask for Crash?

IP as in intellectual property. Like a new concept/idea. It's a genre that's been due for a resurgence.

Alright 20 damn tries at the part where it would be real helpful if he could kill one clicker, but nope, he just wants to fend them off and pull out his weapons and not kill anything.

******.

(grounded mode btw)

3D platformers don't have to be visually stunning though.  In fact a platformer with Uncharted visuals sounds :x ... easy pass.  Platformers to me should be quirky.  ND is beyond that already.

Thats like asking Polyphony to make a go kart game.
I wouldn't expect them to make a 3D platformer because like you said they are past that. Games like Uncharted anad TLOU are their bread and butter now.
Don't forget they looked at rebooting Jak and Daxter but the game got cancelled because they thought they wouldn't do it justice and so they went on to make The Last of Us instead so it is possible for them to make those kind of games.

Polyphony has always been about GT though. I can't name any other games they've made apart from Tourist Trophy.

I just really enjoyed Uncharted and believe that they could continue the franchise. If it's not coming out every year I don't think fatigue would set in. Assuming that Uncharted 4 drops Winter 2015 they could focus on a new IP and come back to TLOU or Uncharted 5 for a 2017-2018 release. Again, I'm just a fan of the series and understand that others would prefer them to foucs on new IPs which is understandable.

I'm sure they could make a beautiful 3D platformer but I don't think it would generate the type of buzz or dollars that TLOU did. Personally, I wouldn't spend $60 on a platformer unless it was a Mario game (even then I would still hesitate but nostalgia would kick in  ). At this point I'm sure whatever ND does will be a big hit.

I love Uncharted too but we've had 4 games with the 5th coming out or 6th if you count the card game. I would rather a new IP to keep them creatively sharp. If they were to make an Uncharted 5 then that would have to be for the PS5 for me to be happy but that's just me.

As for spending full price on a platformer. I would do it for Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends and most of all Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. Please play them if you haven't

Your not serious. TLOU is nothing like the original resident evil at all. Not even close. Metal gear? Sure.

It's like manhunt x resident evil.

Yeah I should load up the previous area and try to make it through with my nail bomb, but that area is hard as hell too.
