The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Again objectively, the xb1 controller is superior because all the buttons are necessary.
Some ps4 games force you to use the touch pad.

The battery life/impulse triggers also add to that notion.

What? So the touch screen isn't necessary but some games force you to use it? How does that make any sense whatsoever. I could see if a controller had not enough buttons being a knock, but there's nothing wrong with the touch pad. It works as a start/ select button with added functionality if devs want to use the touch pad.

What a moronic qualifier for an "objective" measure of superiority.

Stick to googling answers to questions people have and drop this lame Mr. Objective Opinion nonsense.
Save this convo in your to-be-continued folder.

I'm going to play some rounds of ghosts sweaty.

One of the strike playlist says I need better gear, where do I get it?
A couple places; drops, engrams, or buy it from Vanguard or Crucible vendors. Doing daily missions along with weekly and nightfall have very high drop rates for good gear.

If you do your bounties each day for either camp, you should be rank 2 after 4 or 5 days (assuming you've never done them) Quicker if you have been doing a few bounties.

Make sure you buy Legendary gear (purple). The only gear better than legendary is exotic (only one piece of the four can be equiped as an exotic) and raid gear (legendary gear with exotic stats, allowing you to equip one in each of the four slots; only aquirable in the raid).

For example, I had a level 10 Titan today and got him to 24 simply by getting to 20 and having an exotic helm bought from Xur, with a legendary chest found in an engram. The other two pieces of gear are junk and he is still at 24.

If there are enough NTPS people playing Destiny that havent done the raid, I can run you through it. Only stipulation is you have to be at least level 25, preferably 26. Anything less than 26 and you are doing less damage and having more damage done to you.

If you need tips on how to get to 26, I can help with that too.

Thanks for the info.

The xb1 is 1080p/60fps capable. From my limited knowledge, an issue is that multiplat devs are under time/money constraints. Given that, some devs can't make the the ps4/xb1 version exactly the same its release date. We saw this last gen with the 360/ps3.
I don't think it's down to time/money constraints. The PS4 simply is more powerful, so if you utilise both consoles properly then the PS4 version will run better.

After skimming those articles you linked me to, it fuels the notion that the ps4's superior hardware isn't important at this point in time.
The differences pointed out in the articles don't drastically affect gameplay, if at all.
To me, $ony's first party studios will be utilizing the ps4's superior capabilities, while m$'s first party studios will be utilizing xb1's capabilities.

You're right in that it will be the exclusive games that will utilise PS4's hardware properly but as for the differences not affecting the game play, you'll have to look at thaton a game by game basis and it'll also depend on how sensitive you are to the differences. We're not going to get a situation where a game is unplayable on the XBone and there are many games like some that you listed where the differences are minor if any apart from the resolution, but certain games do suffer from the weaker hardware and it depends on the person as to how it affects them.

For me personally, I can handle dips in framerate as long as it doesn't crawl, I can take screen tearing up to a point and resolution is not a deal breaker but 1080p is up there as one of the most important things for me. For other people it'll be different.

Here's an example with Sniper Elite III

ibdQcnoJeFZrMS.gif

Frame-rate tests for Sniper Elite 3 reveal that both versions feature fluctuating frame-rates that impact upon the overall experience. However, it is the PS4 which comes closest to delivering a 60fps while the Xbox One game suffers from constant screen tearing and a lower frame-rate in demanding scenes in its default v-sync off mode.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-sniper-elite-3-face-off

The screen tearing in the gif and lower framerate may not bother some people but for others it might be unacceptable.

My original point though is that for most of these games, the PS4 multiplatform games run better due to more powerful hardware. The differences vary from game to game but the hardware difference is constant and won't change so this will be the norm.

I posted a pros/cons list of the xb1/ps4
http://niketalk.com/t/526537/the-ps...oft-trolls-ps4-paritygate/36810#post_21782874
and a link to a thread of people who've owned xb1s/ps4s for 9 months.

I looked at both controllers objectively.
I don't think I've ever seen a post in here about the DS4's great battery life.
Or how the light bar and touch pad add to the experience of their games.

If you wear earbuds like me, the speaker on the DS4 becomes irrelevant.

Again objectively, the xb1 controller is superior because all the buttons are necessary.
Some ps4 games force you to use the touch pad.
The battery life/impulse triggers also add to that notion.

All the buttons on the DS4 are used though. The light bar is used in things like Playroom and will work alongside Morpheus.
As for the touchpad, in FFXIV, you can use the touchpad as a Virtual mouse which improves the game a lot better than the PS3 version and with more MMO's coming to the system, the touchpad will help if they use a similar set up.

Then there are games which use the touchpad. You can guarantee a studio like Media Molecule will utilise the touchpad in an innovative way for Tearaway, just like did for the Vita version.

As for the shape and ergonomics, that's down to perosnal opinion.
The guys down at Gametrailers voted the DS4 as the No.1 controller, with the XB1's controller not even in the list.

I've been looking out the window all day, waiting for UPS to bring the thtustmaster.

T300 RS?

Any news of a tennis game this gen? Top Spin 4 came out in 2011 smh.
I was just talking to my boy about this around the time of the US open.  I was saying we needed a proper next gen tennis SIM.

After researching it, I don't think its gonna happen. They don't sell that well, and it costs a ton of money to license player likenesses, so its probably just a break even proposition for the dev.
Yeah... I guess I might be nit-picking, but TS4 was just "ok" for me.  They got a lot of the little details wrong, which bugged me.

Ultimately, the tennis market is just too small.

Sinner Sinner Way too expensive for a novice like me. I'm using the T80 and I love it. I just need a piece of rubber bottom carpet to put the petals on.

Oh I know that strike well. I've done it 6 times now. Shoot me an invite when you're on.
Thanks again!

Regarding the DS4, i turned vibration off, the battery life already isn't good.  But charging every 5 hours > AA batteries.  The DS4 dying on me, just tells me i've been sitting in one place too long.

Does anyone have the PS TV yet. I want to know how effective it is to stream ps4 in different households. I.e. Ps4 in my apt, ps tv at my parent's house.

brother got his shipped yesterday.  I don't think it's remote play like Vita where you can play anywhere with a good WiFi connection.  PSTV has to be in the same network as your PS4.

Future Shop is a joke. MY PSTV, which was predordered 2 months ago online, did not ship due to them being sold out. I check my local store and they have 5 in stock.

Cancelled my online order and will go pick up in-store.

Not Sure about the whole Multi House part but unless they can fix the 2 to 4 second lag between button press and action this PSTV is dead to me already

Shot a Video for it already to illustrate just haven't finished editing yet

Edit: Might not need my Video Gizmodo (Link)  hit it on the nose and showed me a few more let downs

For those of you guys that care, the update for the vita and pstv is live. It adds theme support to the vita and 4 wireless controller support to pstv.

Man EFFFFFFF this Shadow of Mordor game, it's way to hard. I can't do anything. 100 orc's anytime. It's freaking impossible.

What part of the game are you at? It's annoying when you got a bunch of orc's shooting arrows and throwing spears at ya.

I'm not even that far

I am a few missions after when you initially meet Gollum and have to kill 4 War Chiefs. I've been doing side stuff trying to level up my guy, went and tried again, it just pisses me off.

I had one of them pretty low, and then the dude starts running away. I'm chasing after him for a good 4-5 minutes and finally catch him and whenever I try to fight him it doesn't damage him now and he just keeps running away and wont fight me.... and if I stop to drain someone so I get more arrows, he gets too far away.

Step one, save up strange coins and motes of light. When Xur pops up on Friday-Saturday buy a piece of armor for your class and hopefully an exotic primary. Then you have to grind faction rep and get marks to buy it. That's where I got the majority of my armor. My helm I got from Xur and my gloves dropped for me while everything else I got through factions for the most part. Then you level it up obviously.

A lot of it is luck based. Hell, I have full legendary + an exotic piece of armor for a warlock if I ever choose to level one plus the Suros since I already have a Hard Light. It's partially an MMO, so it rewards the people who have the most amount of time/use it efficiently and the lucky ones.
