The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Anybody playing evil within? Worth grabbing?

I'm on chapter 3. It's scary as hell and hard imo. I'd recommend it.
Playstation TV is definitely not for everyone. Lacking a ton of features, games available are a small portion of the Vita's library, missing apps, ect.

But this made it worth it for me.

I'm going to pick mine up with Tales of Hearts R. I'll probably scoop up Freedom Wars also.

On the Playstation Store, un-bought, where is belongs...

Im missing VIII and a couple other games I'll scoop down the line (Grandia, Vagrant Story, ect) but having them on a dedicated device that I can easily move around but still use a TV is great.

Anybody with the PS TV that can comment on the remote play capability over wifi...according to IGN's review (and CNET's) its trash unless wired, but I'm eager to hear some actual end user feedback.

Don't get it for PS4 Remote Play.

This is a real bummer of a device. I bought it for its PS4 Remote Play capability so that I could keep the console in my living room and still play games late at night in my room without moving the console. I have 105mps down, 25 up WiFi, so I connected my PS4 to Ethernet, connected my PSTV to the WiFi, and boom! I'm ready to go right?

NOPE.

The lag was horrendous. I'm talking unplayable-bad. My room shares a wall with the living room in my small apartment and nothing was more than 30ft away from anything else.

The product is a huge, huge bummer to anyone expecting Remote Play.
Super bummed - remote play just isn't usable.

I bought this for PS4 remote play, period. It does horribly on LAN. Lag is outrages and frame rate dips to sadness. My hopes for using this out of the house to remote play is out of the question. Will return this and will circle back if I hear they fix it. Totally bummed.
Worthless for wireless PS4 remote play

I bought this for the sole purpose of remote play from my PS4. I have a very nice Netgear N900 router, and even in the next room it's worthless. Well over a second of lag. Maybe hard-wired is better, but if you plan on using this for wireless remote play you'll be VERY disappointed.
 Excitement became disappointment

I pre-ordered the PS TV, because I was excited about the chance to remote play my PS4, in other rooms of my house, and free up my main TV, when my family wanted to use it. I have a Vita, and the remote play is very good on it, so I figured it would essentially be the same result. Unfortunately, it was not.

The set up was easy, and the interface was good (much like the vita). I was a bit surprised that it does not utilize the dual shock 4 touchpad though.

Initially, I set it up to use wifi. I tried remote playing my PS4 (it is wired to my network). It seemed good, when using the game menus, but once I actually tried gaming, it was terrible. Major pixelation, and very laggy controller response. I experimented with various settings, and options, but could not improve things. The wifi does not support 802.11n 5Ghz (or it wasn't finding mine).

Day 2, I ran a network line, to my other room, and tried again, but wired to my network. The pixelation was no longer an issue, but the controls were inconsistent. It went from tolerable, to laggy, depending on how much action was on the screen, or how soon it was, after initiating the remote connection.

To top it off, it does not support the DS4 microphone jack, and none of my wireless headsets work with it. I did try my bluetooth earpiece (for mobile devices), and it works, but the PS TV sends ALL audio through the bluetooth, instead of just party chat. There is no option to separate it.
My Sony Elite headset did still work, connecting to my PS4, but it was choppy/terrible, because it was trying to broadcast through the house.

My final decision: I'm returning it. I'll reconsider it, if they release a version 2, with more powerful hardware (better networking and processor), and improved software (to support chat better). I gave it 2 stars, because it probably is a great device, if you just want to play your Vita games on it, or you want to use it to play media (rent movies, play music, view photos, etc...)
 - Wifi PS4 streaming has way too much lag. Mitigation : You really shouldn't be buying this for PS4 remote play if you were going to insist on using Wifi. Unfortunately Sony does support Wifi streaming with a recommendation that you have a 'robust Wifi' (whatever that means). If they support it, then all these 1 or 2 star reviews complaining about something that is supported but doesn't work well are fair game IMHO but my recommendation is obviously to consider this unsupported. Incidentally, I tried both PS4 and TV on Wifi and one on Wifi/one Wired and neither were acceptable. The latter at best was about 50/50 good vs choppy (stutter, lag and pixelation from over compression).

I finally got something Legendary, a helmet, lol.

I did the 4th Strike Playlist on Vanguard like 3x in a row, ****** exhausting and repetitive :x
