Tomb Raider sequel "well into development" for Xbox One and PS4


Square Enix has confirmed work is already underway on a follow-up to this year's best-selling game Tomb Raider.

The project has been hinted at before, but has now been confirmed by Square Enix's European and American CEO Phil Rogers in an official blog post.

"I am excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel," he wrote, before confirming it was one of the publisher's "next-gen blockbusters".

Tomb Raider rebooted the franchise back in March and is the biggest-selling game in the UK so far this year.

While Rogers says the game is "well into development", we're unlikely to see anything of it until later this year, if not in 2014.

The Order 1886 looks really dope to me. Third person action game/shooter in a Victorian era with lightning and pseudo steampunk weapons. I don't even know what the enemy faction is, but it looks like it could be crazy.

Tomb Raider is nice, the latest was a step in the right direction. The OG was tacky with the one-liners and the way Lara looked, but I prefer the Uncharted games. They're really good supernatural fortune hunter games. It's like playing Indiana Jones with solid gun and shooting mechanics, the ability to climb and traverse the environment, environmental puzzles, and gameplay changing plot twists. I can't wait for whatever Naughty Dog makes for PS4.

If Sony drops a $500 PS4/Vita bundle, I'm getting that.

That $500 Vita Bundle would be insane. I would definately cop. I bought a vita through this crazy AT&T deal last year but gave it to my little cousin because I wouldn't play it much. Now with PS+ I'd at least have free games.

A $250 controller that doesn't have the full capabilites of the $50 controller.

I won't say it's lame and only few games allow you to use the Vita as an extra controller with extra features like on the Wii-U. No ones going to use their Vita when they have a DS4.
The main attraction is being able to stream PS4 games to play on the Vita over a private network or the internet.



Speaking of The Order I can't wait. Ready at Dawn said this is all real time.

Why are yall so concerned with launch games? Never buy a system based on the games that are available the first 3 months. Did yall base your PS3 / 360 purchases on Resistance 1 and Perfect Dark Zero?
