The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Why are yall so concerned with launch games? Never buy a system based on the games that are available the first 3 months. Did yall base your PS3 / 360 purchases on Resistance 1 and Perfect Dark Zero?
True. Many developers and publishers are holding out for now, come this time next year there will be plenty to talk about.

things are different this generation

last generation a lot of studios were starting from scratch on new architectures by just porting

this gen, studios are using their already existing tools/engine on an architecture that isn't all that different from the previous gen

what you saw early last gen were basically og xbone ports while early this gen its going to be pc ports

im not saying that games aren't going to get better graphically, im just saying that the transition will be better

This I barely played my ps3 when I had it in 2008.

So I need to rebuy one.

Plus I'm replaying games on the ps2 and 360.

Too many gamez, so little time.

Sony Computer Entertainment to Host PlayStation 4-Focused Keynote at Tokyo Game Show

URL]

With a press release the organization behind Tokyo Game Show announced that, as part of the TGS Forum 2013, Sony Computer Entertainment will host a keynote titled “The Creative World of PlayStation 4” (the title is labeled as temporary, so it might change).

The keynote will happen on September the 19th at 10:30 local time and will be hosted by Sony Computer Entertainment President and CEO Andrew House, Senior Vice President Masayasu Ito and SCE Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida.

The specific content of the conference hasn’t yet been disclosed, but considering that Tokyo Game Show is Sony’s own home battlefield, we can pretty much assume that they’re going to bring all the big guns to bear.

I really wonder what else they could have to talk about. Well, except for showing a few more year one games.

They'll have to talk about the Japanese side of things. They haven't said whether it'll be releasing this holiday or next year in Japan and also there's also the Japanese services as well.

Hopefully we see more from Japan Studios because Knack isn't enough. Who knows, they might have saving The Last Guardian for the reveal.

Don't even remind me of how this beautiful looking title has been M.I.A. I'd love nothing more than to see more of this, get a release date for it, and see more Kingdom Hearts III.

PS4 can prioritise download & installation data based on player behaviour

Next-gen console will download and install most popular components first.

PlayStation 4 can dynamically alter the order in which game data is downloaded (and how data is installed off a Blu-ray disc) based on the popularity of particular modes or tracks, it's been revealed.

Discussing how the technology could tie in with upcoming racer DriveClub with The Guardian, Evolution Studios' group technical director Scott Kirkland said, "If we recognise that a majority of people take a particular path through the game that we didn't anticipate, we could dynamically modify the default order that the digital version of the game gets pulled down in – and actually, that same technique could apply to how the data is pulled off the Blu-ray as well.

"We can continue to make the experience better for the player."

It was revealed previously that PlayStation 4 players would be able to prioritise specific components of their download via a video explaining the benefits of PS4's new OS. Players will be able to select whether to install Killzone: Shadow Fall's single-player campaign or multiplayer component first, for example.

However, it wasn't clear that developers would also have the ability to dynamically vary the order in which specific data within each title is downloaded.

PlayStation 4's 'micro-patching service' will also let developers release tiny updates more frequently to tweak gameplay and target specific attributes.

"We can even update the handling," DriveClub game director Paul Rustchynsky explains. "If there are any balancing issues – if anyone says 'this car is 0.1 second slower than it should be at 0-60mph' – we can make adjustments like that."

PlayStation 4 and DriveClub launch this Christmas. A bundle containing a PlayStation 4 console and PlayStation Vita is rumoured to go on sale at "the end of the year".

Just chill.

You'll get to play a ps4 in due time.

He can't chill man, he has first day fever

I can relate to your calm, because I too don't care when I get I buy a PS4; I can understand his concern too though since he went through the effort of pre-ordering. Pre-ordering something just to not get it the day it releases is all kinds of pointless. I hope duke gets his on the release date.

of course i could chill, but its almost like false advertisement. dont tell me im guaranteed a day one pick up if i pre order to then be on some waiting list or some ****. i played the waiting game with the PS3, thats the only reason i pre ordered the 4. thats like RSVP'ing at Niketown on a Jordan release for you to get there and have them tell you "well sorry we dont have anymore."

Why are you acting like gamestop makes the ps4s?

You know that you can preorder a ps4 straight from sony right?

Your example doesn't make sense since shoes are purposely limited to increase nike's profits whereas systems aren't "limited."

I understand what alley is saying tho I strictly preordered to get it on release day as well what's the point of pre ordering and being told you will get it release day just to find out you won't be?? It defeats the purpose.. They quick to take your money and promise you stuff but what can we do if they fail to get it to us on release day?

Also is there anything that says GameStop is guaranteed release day? I know there has to be some fine print somewhere

thats what i was asking earlier all yall that preordered first or early still have to be first or early in line at the store right?  they not bout to hold your ps4 specially for you until you come pick it up are they?

why am i acting like GameStop makes PS4's? did i say they did? they advertise them dont they? my example makes perfect sense because if i RSVP for something its supposed to be there. why would i give GS $100 for my reserve if im not going to get what i paid for on release day? do you not understand the concept of reserving something?:rolleyes you cant go taking peoples money and GUARANTEE them day one pick up and not have it available on the exact date. had i been told i was not going to receive my PS4 day one do you think i still would of put $100 down. makes no sense....

No when I preordered the employee told me I will be notified when mines is ready to b picked up... It doesn't make sense for me to preorder and still have to fight the masses at the store. Employee told me I will be told when it's there and all I got to do is go up there with my id and pick mines up.. If I also remember he told me they will hold it for 48 hours

Also i think it will also be in your best interest to pay it off before release.. Mines is already paid off.. I'm just waiting now

theoretically they should only give out the same amount of pre orders as systems they will be receiving. they shouldnt go promising every person who does pre order a day one system if they surpass the number of units available at launch. i was told i had to pick up my system within the first 48 hours of release, so to answer your question YES they are supposed to hold it for you..

Wow, that granular. Really cool.

Thinking about canceling my nba 2k14 and cod ghost pre orders... Has there been any info leaked about these two games and the differences between the PS3 versions aside from their slight upgrade in graphics?
