BY STEVE WATTSKingdom Hearts 3 may be closer than we expected, according to the voice actor behind one of its central characters.

Bill Farmer, who has voiced the character Goofy for years in both the Kingdom Hearts series and various cartoons, says that as far as he's been told, the much-anticipated sequel is due out later this year. He also claims his voice recording is already finished.

The word came from Farmer's tweets (via NeoGAF). Given Square Enix's relative silence on the project, it's possible that he's mistaken. When pressed by fans, though, he's has sounded very confident of his understanding.

He says they've been recording for the last few years. He went on to plead ignorance about specifics like new worlds, stating that the voice work is done before he has anything visual to reference. He also said he's done too many recording sessions to remember specific lines. Then again, being a professional, he probably knows better than to spoil plot anyway.

Recently, IGN asked the game's co-director, Tai Yasue, if Kingdom Hearts 3 is due this year. His answer vaguely promised it "as quick as possible." IGN Logo

0 chance it drops this year. Just like there's 0 chance XV drops in the US this year. KH3 I would say 50% chance holiday 2016 which is what they're pushing for. The real estimate is for Spring 2017 as a Global release.

I wouldn't say zero chance Disney is pissed with Square Enix right about now on how long they are taking. Also I'm sure there is something in the contract for when it hits 12.22.15 (10 years since KH2)

This is strange... they got KH3 for preorder on Amazon already for $52... along with Dying Light.

I wish there was a list of all the remasters and potential remasters... so Beyond 2 Souls may get remastered?

I hope they remaster Mirror's Edge game is sick... heard ME2 won't be coming out until late 2015.

Yeah I'm done with them as well. Initially I was like I have to get it at midnight but its not worth it. I'd rather play fully rested and be able to actually care


I'm watching Colin Moriarty play Shovel Knight, day one cop for me. That old school platforming is so nostalgic and the game looks great.
