2015 could be the best year for games.

What year would you guys say was the best?
1998 was the best year in gaming. Not even up for debate. Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon Red & Blue, Grim Fandango, Baldur's Gate, Starcraft, Half-Life, Banjo-Kazooie, Ocarina of Time.

2014 is in contention for the worst year in gaming. Not even one game that can be considered amazing-- Not one! The best game of the year was just "great".

Just beat Dying Light; good game, really flexible and intuitive parkour system. Working on Apotheon, Evolve, Besiege, and Resident Evil: Remastered right now. Apotheon is a really great metroidvania game, with a charming art style. It really demands your attention. Evolve is really reeling me in; the gameplay is surprisingly deep and encourages team work more than any other multi-player game I've played in recent memory. Not much to say about Resident Evil other than it's still the same expertly crafted survival-horror game it was back when it came out over 10 years ago. It should be a primer for anyone looking to get into the survival-horror genre; both as a player and a developer.

i feel the same way about apothem i love the art style. i havent made it very far within the game yet but I've enjoyed it so far

i still dont know what to think of evolve. i wanted to like it but it just doesn't do anything for me. i could hardly play it during the betas either

Xenogears and RE:2 in 98 too...

Wow, you're right. Can't believe I missed that, those two are my in my all-time top 10 list. Well, that solidifies it then: 1998 is the best year in gaming.

Yeah, I can see that. For me it clicked when I was playing with three other people I know. It's hard to get coordination and team tactics down with random people. Personally, I love playing as the monster; there's this constant cat and mouse dynamic going on that's extremely tense. Really awesome feeling to go from hunted to hunter.

yeah i think if i could play with friends it would be fun. thats one of those games where if you dont have people to communicate with you aren't gonna have fun imo unless you are the monster of course

2014 wasn't too bad. Y'all acting like Nintendo didn't drop hits :smh:

Mario Kart 8
Bayonetta 2
Smash Wii U
Bravely Default

I thought smash kinda sucked.

Bayonetta meh. Not my style.

I didn't play DK or MK8, but they look fun.

Not enough to save 2014 from being pretty lame.

Took me 24 gameplay hours to beat dying light, phenomenal game, from the soundtrack, to the gameplay, the RPG elements and the park our NY mkneyvwas well spent for once, will be playing again,I played using the surround sound headset adds so much tension to the game

Those are all great games, but they are just that--great games. Although, I will give you Bayonetta 2; that game was certainly impressive and extremely well made. Personally speaking, Nintendo isn't in the same conversations when I speak of consoles, by virtue of them having a genuine philosophy of making great game experiences first and turning a profit second. They are unlike Sony and Microsoft, especially Microsoft, by building consoles around game play experiences they want to create and not trying to capture as many audiences as possible with  generic games and insulting business practices.

Dating myself here. My grade 9 year, 2000, is untouchable.

Majora's Mask not being listed here

American Mcgee's Alice should be on there as well.
Super embarrassing to admit this... but I have never played Majora's Mask. I went from Ocarina and N64 to Playstation and missed it completely.

Hey boost temember when u were caucasian, then asian? that transformation! :sheds a tear:
Naw, I have to defend him on this one. This is a throwback to when the PS3 thread was a few months old. We all started playing COD4 pretty hardcore. Playstation chat being what it is, this is the first time we could finally put a voice to a name. We finally heard Boost speak and someone in the lobby piped up, "I though you were white". Someone else; "Naw, I thought he was Asian cause he likes NOS and boosting". After that it was a running joke Boost was Asian. I think perpetuated by @NinongBrown

I gotta admit iYen, you come with some great finds and deals from time-to-time. It's definitely appreciated. It's almost worth the constant Forza Horizon 2 mentions, memes, and gifs.
