It just made a noise it smelled bad and never turned on Sony gave me a new one but I got lucky my warranty was 2 weeks expired. :x

Did a bug get stuck in there or did a chip fry? What they tell you? Did they give you the "oh you lucky" or the "we're here for you" treatment?

Might have to make sure my ps4 gets replaced before the warranty runs out.

You're not doing it correctly. You have to make sure all the static electricity is gone. That's why I said disconnect it from the power source and hold the power button till you no longer hear any beeps. Then plug it back in and it should be fine. Another tip is doing what I said and then going into rebuild database. You won't lose any files. It just looks for the issue.

I did as you advised. I'm still being booted to safe mode. Rebuild database just being me back to safe mode.

I'm also checking that reddit thread to see what has worked for others.

I had the same death loop and no matter what I did (unplug the PS4, update and restart....many more failed attempts) it still booted up in safe mode and began the infinite safe mode loop. Searched online and found that the only option was to turn it off, restart by holding the power button on the console, then choose to initialize (option 6 if I remember correctly), which would essentially restart your console as if it were the first day you plugged it in. From what I had previously read, this would delete every bit of saved data you had as well as any downloaded game on your console.

I took the plunge and initialized.

It started as if from scratch but the good thing is that once you proceed through the initial setup, as long as you SIGN BACK IN WITH YOUR PSN membership, you can go back to the PSN store and download the games that you previously had on your console (the freebie's due to you PSN membership) and re-download all of them for free!

Hope this helps others, cause I was pissed that I might have to pay for games that I'd previous downloaded for free (or paid a bargain price for).

*** One aside is that saved game data most likely will be lost (still in the process, so can't say for sure). Anything uploaded to PlayStation database (i.e. FIFA14 for me) should be intact.

@IYEN I'm not sure I saw on reddit that a fuse or power supply blew up. They agreed to fix it for free but the next day they were about to charge 160. I told Jose I wasn't paying and would never buy anything Sony again They waived the fee and they sent me a new one.

With these metrics, the manufacturer reports the PS4 is continuing its legacy as the "fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history." It is currently available in over 123 countries worldwide.
Originally launching in November 2013, the PlayStation 4 was last reported in January 2015 to have sold 18.5 million units worldwide, with 6.4 million of those being sold in its third financial quarter.
A number of PlayStation 4 exclusives are scheduled to arrive in 2015, including Bloodborne, the already-released The Order: 1886, and Tearaway Unfolded.

I don't understand how the ds4 is gimmicky, I like the way it works with GTAV. It's a blank canvas waiting to be painted on, it's up to developers to utilize it's functions.

The game that uses the DS4 the best so far is Second Son... It was cool how they did it... I liked how the light flashes when you shoot on Tomb raider too.

And the speaker is definitely different, I like that a lot too.

And it seems like they fixed the rubber issue on the newer ones. I haven't had any problems with my blue controller yet.
