The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

 at the comic. Replace smashbros with X though.

Y'all aren't seriously trying to say the Wii U doesn't play DVD's right :smh: Nintendo
Doesn't play DVD or Blu-Ray films to save money on licensing.

how does one charge something is theres no power source?

When you switch the PS4 off it goes into a standby mode which uses hardly any power but it allows the system to update itself while asleep, suspend and resume exactly where you left in a game or to wake up and download a game if you purchase one using the app or the web store.

So in that standby mode it's sending power to the USB ports to charge your controllers or headsets if they're plugged in.

I'm very happy with my wii u but that's also because it's paired up with my ps3 which is what I watch everything from. I couldn't JUST have a wii u. But if u already have a ps3 or 4 it doesn't matter that it can't play DVDs or blu rays. Just a secondary system.

I have no need whatsoever for an Xbox though. Not interested.

Dont systems already do this? My 360 controller keeps on charging after i turned my system off. The red light on the cable stays on till its fully charged.

^ Saw that earlier on Slickdeals. Promptly canceled my Watch Dogs launch bundle and scooped up the extra controller launch bundle, since buying a second one was gonna happen regardless. Figure I'll just grab some games in-store.

Nah, no excuse for the Wii U to not play DVD's. It was bad that the Game cube couldn't play em. A complete joke that the Wii didn't. But the Wii U doesn't even play them?!?!? The system should be playing Blu-rays.

its just pathetic now. Nintendo should just stick to making games. Imagine zelda on ps4/XB1

I mean, Wii U's proprietary discs do hold 25GB, so it's not that huge of a deal.

Not talking about the space. Talking about it being 2013, 13 years since the DVD playing PS2 came out two console generations ago and you still can't watch DVD's on Nintendo systems, let alone Blu-rays.

It's not like they can't, they'd just be forced to pay licensing fees as mentioned on the last page. Nintendo never had intentions of making an entertainment system, they make game consoles. Therefore they decided to save themselves money and let people who want to watch DVD's do that on their own. I mean, who doesn't have something that can play DVD's by now? Do we really need our Wii U's to as well?

IDK how a wii u console sells for $350 when infinitely better consoles are $50-$100, which are 2 times as powerful as the wii u, I would assume.

Then again, the wii had no problem selling.

They dropped the price by $50, they had to its too close to that $400 for what your getting in the wii u. Honestly its too overpriced.

I just gotta say how excited how I am. I got the email from amazon that I will have it by November 22nd.( I don't know when I'm getting the two from GameStop)

My house is being rebuilt and I will have a man cave in the attic. I got a new 51" Samsung plasma and a soundbar. Ps4 is gonna be in a great place. Especially with a bong in place.

That's still too much. The sweet spot seems like it would be $250, but that's just my opinion.

Can you play Mario kart, super smash bros, Zelda on ps or Xbox? No? There's your answer to why they can charge that money

And for the record I'd much rather have backwards compatibility than the ability to play DVDs. That was one of the biggest reasons I got it, and why I love my fat ps3

They are completley different. It's like saying why have a motorcycle when you can have a car. But once again the Xbox is the odd man out IMO because it's got essentially the same games, worse exclusives than both systems and ps4 is the better powers system

They did make a push for it as an entertainment system with TVii though. Them not having DVD's is understandable but it should have come with the ability to play Blu-Ray IMO.

The Wii had all those games and wasn't expensive.

Backwards compatibility is a nice feature but the switch to x86 is thinking ahead.
I would rather prefer developers to have an easier time making new games than for them to have a hard time just so that I can play old games which already work on an older console.

as a grown man that's really the only reason to cop a Nintendo system but it disappoints me that Nintendo doesn't have an achievement system and a weak *** online structure
