The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Whoa edit that thing!!!

You need to know someone in the industry to get into the show.
Folks do flip on eBay or CL sometimes, but I'd be careful with those.

They clamped down really hard this year on who gets in. EVERYONE had to re-submit their credentials this year and I know a lot of people with ties in the consulting world, marketing, or retail companies that got denied.

Last year they started randomly checking ID's at the hall entrances dudes were getting kicked out left and right. People got in big trouble from their respective studios for handing their badges out. If you score one be careful that you don't get ID checked.

NC are you going to be able to make it this year?

With both using x86 architecture now you're really going to see one system shine over the other when multiplatform comparisons happen. Then again, it's all about what developers put at the top of their priority list and how they're tweaked for each system. Being a gameplay guy FPS is always at the top of my list ::shrug::

If you were to see a straight 1:1 port on each system there will be a clear winner in the FPS battle.

Yes.

Edit: they are partners with M$ not Sony. If they can make the game better on PS, why would they?

They are partners but no way would they gimp the PS4 versions. EA are competing with other developers, Fifa vs Pes, Battlefield vs COD, NBA Live vs NBA 2k.
If they gimp the PS4 version, they are opening the door for other games and developers to take their position.

PS4 price revealed by Sony India, listing now removed

A product listing on the official Sony India website may have revealed the PlayStation 4 price ahead of its E3 2013 coming-out party.

The PlayStation faithful have been dying to know what PS4 looks like and how much it will cost since its reveal in February. The Sony India product page, which has since been removed, allegedly listed a base model of the console with a 250 GB hard drive for...

€399.

There are no currently available screengrabs of the now-missing product page. The news was seemingly first reported by German gaming site Playfront.de before being spotted by NeoGAF. There, forum posters indicate that, while 399 Euros converts to roughly 513 US dollars, a direct conversion is almost never valid for game console sales. Case in point: at launch, the PlayStation Vita sold for €250 and $250. Another example: the PlayStation 2 launched for $299 and "2990 French Francs, which is equivalent to 450 Euros."

Devs messed up the PS3 versions of games all the time, so why wouldn't it happen here. Games that had the 360 as the lead console ALWAYS look worse on the PS3. They just take the 360 version and port it over, and the results are not pretty.

^^ It shouldn't happen because of both platforms moving to x86. The playing field is pretty much level when it comes to the software development aspect. Obviously, optimizations have to made but (hopefully) gone are the days of having to go and outsource everything to get it running and optimized for the PS3.

I heard that as well. I hope that you're right...

You going to E3 this year??

This is basically what I was thinking.

But thanks for the info hybrid. Hopefully things will be different this time.

I'll be there for meetings and showing stuff off all 3 days. Hopefully I should get some time to wander around. I'm still confused why they made it Tues-Thurs. Like I'm really going to come into work on Friday?

Just a ploy to make me burn a vacation day  Thanks ESA

400 for 3 days? That's a great deal actually.

Industry professionals get in for free with verification but outside contractors can qualify for a paid pass for $995
