The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I'm hearing that people who have played Knack at PS4 demo units who were never interested in the game are actually enjoying it. The demo is more of a family friendly character action game than a 3D platformer. It's like the half way point between Crash Bandicoot and God of War.

I'm hoping there's some good platforming parts in the game though. They haven't really showed anything. Just the same portions from the Feb reveal and E3.

Just curious. Could you put a ssd into a ps4 and if you could, would there be an improvent or benefit from doing this?

On a PC there is basically no boot time, shut down time, uses less power, faster loading in games, but on the PS3 there was no distinguishable speed increase. Hopefully

someone before launch plops an SSD to test it against a HDD

^ WHO plays with the back of their knuckles on the analog sticks? I honestly didn't hear complaints about thumbs touching until this year. I use the analog sticks with the parts of my thumb on the other side of the nail. Not quite the tip of the thumbs. It's the same part of my thumbs that I use to press the D pad and face buttons. I play the same way on my PS3 AND 360.

Who are these weirdos who use the opposite side of their knuckles? How do you get any precision or any control? This was never an issue on the first 2 PlayStation's.

EDIT: Some examples of how I thought the common way of playing was.

I had to replace "inside of your knuckle" with "joints" and "other side of your finger nail" with "finger tips" for your post to make a drop of sense to me

That said, I play with my finger tips as well, but I can't really say that I have ever paid any attention to how anyone else plays so I don't know how uncommon the way dude in the video holds the controller is.

I don't see how placing the back of your knuckles on the analog sticks is weird.
I think I play like that sometimes.

I never said inside of your knuckle or "other side of your finger nail." To me, finger tips is literally the tip of your fingers. I was trying to explain the part of your finger on the other side of, or opposite the nail.

C'mon though. It sounds like you understood it if you could make those replacements. I did add the pictures as examples of what I meant because it wasn't the best explanation. I don't think there is a name for those specific parts of the finger. Maybe there is. Playing like that guy doesn't look very comfortable or practical.

I really did read your post like four times before I could process it, and even looking at the pictures had me in deep thinker mode

I occasionally actually use the my joint of my thumb in any game that requires you move the analog stick fast, like in Dragonball Z games where you had to spin the analog stick fast or move it from left to right fast. It's not uncomfortable for me, and it really doesn't make much of a difference in precision/control/anything.

That kind of sucks that target is making everybody preorder again.. i'm pretty sure when people preordered the first time they had no problem doing so.

now that launch is 20 something days away all the people that waited till the last minute to pre order are gonna be all over it, and it might be a hassle

I think I'm weird... i play about half way. Not the tips of my thumbs, but a good couple centimeters away from the joint.

Killzone and Assassins Creed for me. I'm still thinking about Knack and will use $10 upgrade for CoD: Ghosts.
