The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Dang X1 takes a big hit if that is true about Ghost... X1 can't hit 1080p on all games because of the complicated ram lol23 more days!!

New hardware.. expect greater results are we move forward. Highly doubt this is as big as most making it. Does it hurt MS? Yes. But next year with more time with the system everything should be on par

Still juiced about getting a preorder in yesterday with amazon. Not a big BF fan but will definitely be prordering 2k14 and FIFA.

I remember PS3 games being 620 P etc last gen and the Xbox fans would have a field day. Now the difference between 720p and 1080p is negligible

Please dont make me bring up party chat or achievements.

 It goes both ways. There are hypocrites on both sides

The real issue revealed on Neogaf is the rumor that the XbOnes online infrastructure and OS are extremely buggy and causing system shutdowns right now. This close to release that's definitely not a good thing.

And they're currently talking about it off and on here

The mods on Neogaf pretty much confirm or deny everything that's claimed on the site, and the bs is squashed immediately, this is still being talked about so take from that what you will...

I believe the guy was saying COD wasnt performing well when trying to run at 1080p on the X1. Causing OS issues and such.. so they chose a stable 720p instead

About to cop that plasma thanks guys . I'm an LED and motion interpolation fanboy but I trust you guys opinion

On another note, I'm surprised on how well Killzone has done so far going up against COD & BF

PlayStation 4 – Top 10 Pre-orders

1. Call of Duty: Ghosts - 298,180
2. Battlefield 4 - 273,766
3. Killzone: Shadow Fall - 250,155
4. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag - 213,354
5. Watch Dogs - 153,569
6. Destiny - 89,970
7. Madden NFL 25 - 81,119
8. NBA 2K14 - 59,592
9. inFAMOUS: Second Son - 57,562
10. Knack - 40,982

Numbers are from VGcharts so take them with a pinch of salt.

At the end of the day, the people buying COD year after year wont care.
 true but tell them you can have a better looking game on the cheaper console then that might switch things.

Let's be real, does it really? If we're talking frame rate(30v60) I'd agree, but IMO differences between 720,900,1080 are negligible unless you're an enthusiast

1080p is now for enthusiast??

How is it at enthusiast level when the majority of people have full HDTV's
720p vs 1080p isn't negligible at all since 1080p has more than twice the amount of pixels as 720p.

One of the main reasons to be blown away by next gen is that we won't have to upscale content. Our games will finally be native to our TV's resolution and look as sharp as Blu-Ray films. 1080p has been the standard for PC gamers with middle range graphics cards.

I remember playing FFXIII and the cutscenes were 1080p. Straight away I could tell the difference when it switched to a cutscene.

The reason people are having meltdowns is because it's COD and Titanfall that are 720p. They arent't exactly blowing your socks off in terms of graphics.

I don't expect every game to be 1080p like Battlefield 4 because it has 64 players and destructible environments.

This Titanfall exclusivity again. People should drop the conversation, but at the same time, no one from Microsoft, Respawn, or EA has said that Titanfall will never release on any other platforms.

Titanfall isn't being published by Microsoft Game Studios. It's being developed within EA by the new Respawn studio. It's being published by EA, a publisher known for putting their games on every platform possible. It wouldn't surprise me if Titanfall made it's way to the PS4 eventually. It's going to be a big hit on the X1. It has a broad appeal and would sell if released on the PS4 too. EA is a business. Putting Titanfall on the PlayStation later is a good way to make a lot more money off of a game that will clearly be very successful.

In my opinion it will release on PS4 eventually. However, just like Mass Effect, it'll do alot better on X1 just because the brand will be associated with that console.

If it doesnt, then just another reason to scoop an X1 in 2014.

I can kind of see that, but the 360 also just had more units sold in that time period. That coupled with bad port jobs to the PS3 for like the first half of the generation with a few offenders still being guilty of it every now and then. *cough* Skyrim *cough*

Mass Effect was one of the main reasons I bought a 360. I wasn't going to buy any sequels for my PS3 when it went multiplat. Especially after I have a save from the first game with all of my decisions on it. When BioShock, Saints Row, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, and whatever else went multi, the 360 still had a larger install base. Especially in North America where a lot of franchises like COD flourish.

I think the amount of exclusives Sony has been producing affected it too. BioShock: Infinite had less to compete with on the 360. On the PS3 there was a new Sly Cooper and God of War. Plus The Last of Us, Ni No Kuni, Tales of Xillia, Beyond: Two Souls, Dragon's Crown, The Puppeteer, and a new MLB: The Show. With a new Ratchet & Clank and Gran Turismo still coming. Not everyone can afford to buy 82 games at a time like Jetpac.

I don't see a PSX/PS2 sized market share ever happening again, but I feel like if the PS4 gets a larger install base, that multiplatform games will do better just because of sheer numbers. Especially if they're better optimized.

No noticeable difference between 720p and 1080p unless you're an enthusiast  this guy really said that

Do you know what the word negligible means? Unimportant. People buy the same cod game year after year with no upgrades at all and now your saying that they will care all of a sudden because of different resolutions? People don't go into game stop and say, which game has the best resolution. My eyes can't stand the sight of 720p. That's what PC elitist people do.

If you're honestly going to sit here and say that makes a difference to the 14 cod player than your just caught up in the war.

Those people buying COD year after year aren't playing it on 500$ brand new hardware. The hard-core gamer will be the ones playing COD on the next-gen systems. When word of mouth gets around that COD is inferior on the more expensive Xbox, I think people will find that important.
