Ubisoft says it’d be “stupid” to not put out a yearly Assassin’s Creed given fan interest

Since the first Assassin’s Creed, we’ve seen at least one new entry in the series released in some form or another. Wondering why that’s so?
Aside from the obvious reasons – such as the fact that it makes total financial sense for Ubisoft – the company’s vice president of creative Lionel Raynaud also says yearly Assassin’s Creed games are put out due to fan interest. “As long as this is true we would be very stupid to not satisfy this need”, Raynaud told EDGE.
His comments in full:
“We are able to offer people a new Assassin’s Creed every year because they want Assassin’s Creed every year. As long as this is true we would be very stupid to not satisfy this need, but it puts a lot of pressure on us to create something that will never disappoint.
It needs to keep the series core values and we need to really make sure that we have a good, high level understanding of what it is to be an Assassin. We have to make sure we always deliver a better feel and overall experience every time while still bringing something that they haven’t seen before that’s consistent with being an Assassin in the world we’ve created.”

Assassin's Creed is on par with Call of Duty in terms of quality and how Ubisoft pumps it out. Every site that I read, people want them to take a break from the series.

I never would have thought AC would turn into a yearly release

The former director of
Driveclub posted this in response to him leaving Evolution / the rumors on why he left

Hello, all.

This is my first post on NeoGAF, and whilst I'm not generally one to deal in internet speculation, I have to put the record straight with regard to Pete Dodd's comments above.

Everything he has said with regard to myself and Driveclub is incorrect. It's also libellous.

As Putty (who is a personal friend of mine, and has been for about 25 years) suggests, I left Evo in February for personal reasons. The personal reasons being that my son, who is 4 years old, has been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, which is a potentially life threatening condition. I live 220 miles (4 hours drive) away from Evolution Studios, and was away from home 5.5 days a week. Given the circumstances, I could not continue to work there.

Driveclub is a great game, and the direction hasn't changed since my departure. This has been confirmed by SONY in various press releases over recent days.

I have no problem in dealing with very large projects, as I've been working in the games industry for the last 19 years, and have worked on some very prestigious titles, so there is genuinely no truth to anything posted by Mr Dodds at all. My departure (and indeed the setup of my 'indie' operation, BigRedSwitch) is 100% driven by family necessity, not some professional failing on my part.

I left SONY on very good terms. There is no animosity there, and I was absolutely nothing to do with the recent redundancies - in fact, the news of those redundancies was probably linked on here before I knew about them.

The games industry is a tough place at the moment. My circumstances with my son mean that I've had to leave secure work in order to try to make my own way in the world. This may entail getting another job. With people who obviously know nothing about the situation blackening my reputation for the sake of internet 'fame', this could be made much more difficult. It's nothing less than trolling.

I've contacted Mr. Dodd on his email address on his site. Due to the factual inaccuracy of his statements, I've informed him that he needs to remove the statements and apologise for the damage they have caused, as posting incorrect information and claiming it's true is quite simply libel.

I'm sure you can all appreciate just how difficult things are for myself and my family at the moment. I'd genuinely appreciate it if you can take my statements as word from the origin, and realise that there has been no big cover-up when it comes to my departure from SONY/Evo.

Thanks, all.

Col.

Unless a studio or a person directly involved says something, anything you read on internet should just be taken as rumor and speculation. Kind of annoying that this guy has to expain his personal situation to the entire world just to redeem his reputation.

Usually why I just ignore stories about random people in industy and only read the ones about the actual games.

Yep.

Agreed. Reading this article was sad. Nobody should have to explain to the public that their child is facing a life threatening experience just to keep his name from being slandered

So I'm doing my second play through of infamous as evil and after the Fetch mission
Delsin smashes . It's funny how that doesn't happen if you're playing as a good guy. I guess nice guys really do finish last

Was just a smal kiss and some flirting during/after the mission on good play through from what I rembember. Who knows what happened while it was reloading day, but it wasn't implied really, where as on evil it basically was straight up said they about to smash. I was expecting that news broadcast to show up on a tv or mentioned by betty or something later on in game lol

Yall are right
Definitely thought they did tho, was expecting it when I went through my evil plan through. She just ended up giving hero Delsin a smile

institutionalized racism, b.

my people sometimes are overly sensitive hypocrites but there's a reason for it.
Insitutionalized racism ?
I just don't get how almost every black man thinks there past is the worst in history & get to complain about it till this day .. The Jewish didn't get it as twice as bad ? The Asians when they moved to America ? Native Americans ? those 3 clearly had it way worst yet you guys riot over the most little jab and yet y'all call each other by your slave names which is the N word and proud of it..
And you don't see how this comment is racist?  "You guys riot over the most little jab?"  Seriously?  And you doubt the extent to which racism pervades our society?

C'mon ya'll don't give in. Wise men don't argue with fools.
Not a fool just an average joe fed up with the antics of the black man that I see on a daily
"Antics of the black man?"  You know what, just get the hell out of here.  There's no place for bigots in our community.

And I know exactly who gave a "thumbs up" to his replies, too.
