Going to wait on tests and reviews.

I see a lot of people saying they're going to get hybrid drives but I think any drive is fine but it's best to be sure.

Speaking of harddrives, Kotaku did some tests with some good results.
I had a brand-new PS4 and 7 games. Naturally, a brand-new PS4 still needs a system update (copied off the game disc), but with that out of the way, the installation times were surprisingly fast. I also found out that once you put a disc in the drive, it automatically starts installing so not a second is wasted waiting for you to click a button.

I should note that this is part of the PS4's ability to stream games as they download or install, so the installation time isn't how long it takes to install all 36 gigs of Knack, but how long it takes to transfer enough to get the game going. The rest of the data gets copied in the background as long as the disc is in the drive.

Here are the install times I got for the update and each game:

1.06 System update: 6:15

57 seconds to copy the update from the disc
10 seconds to scroll through the EULA1
4:10 to prepare, reboot and install
Remaining time is other menus and loading


  • Knack: 32 seconds
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall: 0:38
  • Battlefield 4: 0:42
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us: 0:28
  • Just Dance 2014: 0:24
  • Madden 25: 0:23
  • Assassin's Creed 4: 0:13


In total, from turning on the system, it took 14 minutes and 30 seconds to do a system update and install 7 games. Not too shabby.

I paid 7 and change for 2 day shipping, then contacted a rep today when my shipping date was next Tuesday. The rep upgraded me to next day shipping at no extra cost, and now my PS4 shows up as "shipping now".

edit: Still livin in the past :lol:

Anybody has the link to the Madden stream they had a while ago? I've already packed my Madden along with my 2 other B2G1 free games in the bag, ready to take it back to Target. :rofl: I'd really like to see the footage before I return it. Link anyone?

Amazon is shipping my PS4 with my monthly subscribe and save orders, all under same tracking, hope nothing leaks in there

Hello guys, Bestbuy employee here. I just got out of our last meeting before the PS4 release. Plenty of information was given to us that I will gladly pass on over to you guys.

1. We will have enough PS4's to fulfill all of our pre-orders.

2. We will have 100+ PS4's to sell on release date (midnight). Our district (16 stores) will be getting 1300 in total. So our store is getting 100+ as it is one of the bigger ones.

3. We already have the PS4's in our warehouse.

4. We will form two lines. One for pre-orders, one for those who didn't pre-order and wish to purchase.

5. If you're in the line to purchase the PS4 on release day without a pre-order, and are interested in the 'Unlocked Epic Gaming Package' bundle, you jump straight to the front of the line. That bundle is shown here:

6. We will open up our doors at 9:30PM. You walk in, pick out your accessories, you PAY for your accessories and console. You will then be able to walk out with your accessories and will be given a ticket. You will get back in another line and at 12, you walk back into the store and pickup your console with the ticket we gave you.

7. We won't be price matching target's B2G1. Rather, bestbuy made their own promotion. Not nearly as nice though. When you buy 3 games, you get $25 back in reward zone certificates.

8. If you're unruly, we have every right to kick you out.

Note: You shouldn't have a problem with employees taking up the stock either. If we don't have a preorder, we are almost out of luck. We're not able to purchase it win 48 hours of release date. The only thing we can do is line up with someone else and have it them purchase it for you, which is what i'll be doing. They're being extremely strict about this as a company, not just my store. However, you will have those shady stores who will
 
How much are games going for now?

I was at my local mom n pop this morning and they have the ps4 games at $57 + tax.

I know it's only a few bucks but i thought they'd remain at $60 + tax.

Just picked up Ghost, BF4 and 2K14 from Target with the B2G1 deal. They had a ton in stock. Now just waiting on the console.
