Who still uses Ethernet cables ?

Sony needs to stop announcing/releasing stuff if it isn't 100% functional / ready at launch. We cant miss what we don't know about.
I still use em....connection is more stable than wifi to me

I do.

"Oh no, my connection is dropping"

Oh wait, that never happens to me since I use ethernet cables.

I don't care about the feature. Y'all were trippin if you thought you could reasonably play your ps4 from anywhere over wifi.

The upload speed needed from your ps4, to the internet, to whatever random wifi network you're connected to elsewhere, is too much to ask to play without considerable delay.

So basically it's only useful if you need to take a @#$% but can't be bothered to hit pause for a few minutes?

I wasn't planning on using this function anyway, but it's definitely @#$@$@ up to misinform and drag in customers with half-true claims

This. I feel mis-lead. I'll ask my NT Brethren. I'm more comfortable on the Xbox platform all together (This Gen), but because of remote play I got all my sports games for PS4. Should I cancel and go back to M$ or stay the course?

My network at work is a T3. So your theory goes out the window.

Keep both. Might as well, just for the exclusives.

It sounded like a big deal to you.. I say go with what you're most comfortable with and that's the xbone brah. Srs I would if that was a deal breaker for me

If your ps4 is connected to a T3, and you're on a decent wifi connection, you might be ok.

But the avg consumer doesn't have a T3 at home.

Stay the course :smokin

Yeah they recommend that for the vita, but it's probably more that they don't want to deal with calls if you're playing it outside of your house. If you properly configure your network to accept the login and the Vita isn't on a wifi network with capped or limited bandwidth it should work ok.

I'm excited for this gen because it means I finally have a real reason to ditch my ancient WRT54GS and set up the airport network I've wanted for a few years.

just go back to that other brand

nowhere did they say it wont work if you leave home, theyre just advising people on the best way to use it for the best results

anybody who thinks that - some other network > the internet > your house wifi = some kind lag free experience is kidding themself

gigabit ethernet was always going to provide the best connection

Agreed. It will work, but expect significant lag.

Have you guys ever remoted into your home computer while you were away at a different location? You know how laggy and choppy that is? Now imagine trying to play a (bandwidth hogging) game using that same connection. Just not feasible with todays consumer internet speeds.

If you have a T3 at your gaming disposal, you are better off than anyone else in this thread in regards to Remote Play.

Nah the T3 netwok is at work. My PS4 will be hooked up to my comcast netowrk at home. Wouldn't be a HUGE deal honestly. But my job keeps me away from home more than anything... so this one is gonna sting.
