The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

An hour for the entire US :x

:wow: @ the fact that you can drive all over the US in that racing game.

sounds absolutely bananas. sounds like they tapped google earth to get every sidestreet and landscape. incredibly. too bad you can't hop out of the car and explore a la gta.

but this is a great step, in that possible future gtas can potential give us even more world to explore and tear up. could be crazy in the future!!

Can someone school me on some must have PS3 games I might have missed? I have KZ3 and the Uncharted games. I'm also picking up Last of Us on Friday. Anything else I need to look at? MGS?

Metal Gear is great, i would suggest getting familiar with the story before you play IV though. Infamous is cool. Demon Souls was hella dope but crazy difficult. heavenly sword and Heavy rain are good also.

Hard to say. What type of game do you enjoy?

Just some ones that any PS3 gamer should at least try...

MGS4
Bioshock Infinite
God of War 3
Portal 2
Red Dead Redemption
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

"Online passes, we did announce that it's going away. That's because with PS+ being required to play online games, it doesn't make sense to have an online pass in conjunction with that."
"On very general terms, one business can't really dictate to another business what they want to do. So, in general, we're setting the standard, setting the tone, for the way we believe business is fairly run."
"At the end of the day, if they want to find a way to do it they can, but it's... I don't believe that's going to happen because we're setting the standard and all those publishers were there, they heard the applause. They know that consumers wants what's best for them."
"Internally, our goal was always to do what's best for the consumer."
"It's bigger than digital rights, that's the thing. We're talking about what everyone perceives as physical games. It's something you go to a store, you pay money for it, put it in your bag, and you take it home with you, and then when someone tells you what you can do with that thing? It doesn't feel right."

The Price
"It was a nice target that we put in place long, long ago. Years."
"I'm not going to say it was set in stone because you're never sure if you can achieve it from a business point of view, but that was absolutely the goal from day one."

Paying for Multiplayer
"Quite frankly, it costs a lot of money to run a service like that, so it was important to us to try to explore all our options while still giving the customers a great value. So that's why the instant game collection was started about a year ago and we're absolutely planning to continue that in grand form moving forward."

Putting Services Behind Paywalls
"That just frankly doesn't make sense to us to say you need to pay for a subscription so that you can activate your paid subscription. It just doesn't make sense."

- Hard drive is user-replaceable.
- Third party USB controllers should still work.
- Free to play games might not need PS+. Game-by-game decision.
- Won't confirm $60 games, but "makes logical sense."
- One PS+ account will apply to all accounts on the system.
- Remote Play not mandated, part of the OS and just works. Working with publishers for custom control schemes.

I'm in the same dilemma, but I'd wait it out.

I'm expecting the Last of Us to make it onto the PS4 in one way or another.

As for other games I'm hoping Gaikai will take of it.

Btw, they need to change Gaikai name. I keep typing Kazai or Kanzai

From what all my friends have been saying about those games though... its real tempting to buy a PS3 now.

Watching videos of these ps4 games I better upgrade my 720p 60hz lcd to a 1080p 120hz led before launch

I'm guessing that they have some dedicated servers this time around...
They have dedicated servers now, no reason for them not to in the future.

People need to realize that its the game maker not the console maker that decides how the servers work.
CoD doesn't have dedicated servers for 360 or PS3 its all P2P. Battlefield on the otherhand has dedicated servers.

As far as I know all Sony made games use dedicated servers, if Infinity Ward or whoever doesn't want to ($$$), then it will be P2P again.

For those that care home is giving away 30 day ps+ trials.

You just have to do this quest. Should only take like 20 mins

Beyond the requirement of ps+ for online multiplayer, nice to see Sony still has common sense, and not just best for stockholders sense.

Appreciate it. Do I need to play the first 2 Bioshock games to get into the new one?

This.

Which one do you guys reccomend?

My priorites are reliability and value.

I will probably buy a warranty as well.

As of now, I'm looking at vizio.

I have a 40" 1080p 120hz Toshiba LED that I'm very happy with. Picked it up this time last year for 6 at Best Buy. Still would have preferred to have spent a stack on its Samsung counterpart though.

Sony Computer Entertainment head of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida is a big Oculus Rift fan, it turns out. "We've got a couple of the development kits, and I tried it out and I love it," he told us in an interview this morning at E3 2013. Whether the PlayStation 4 will support it is another question. "No, it doesn't," Yoshida told us. Not yet, that is.

When we asked whether the company's planning on offering support in the future, he only offered a "No comment" with a big smile. The picture of the retail Oculus Rift is potentially a bit clearer now, especially given this week's addition of an HD version of the headset. We'll be sure to keep on Sony about Oculus support on the PlayStation 4 as the year goes on.

I think you only need a 60hz TV since ps4 won't display more than 60 frames per second. Any smoothness is just from repeating the existing frames.
