Notice how they didn't say the release date in Japan. If there is a lot of demand they would release later in japan and bring all the stock to NA and EU and with the momentum they have now it will not surprise me if that happens.
They might however spread the stock across NA, Europe and Japan and aim for a worldwide release. Now that is when it will be a resellers dream.

Yeah they are gonna release in NA and EU first specifically so they have enough units for those markets. M$ doesn't even have plans for Japan yet, and it doesn't matter Sony will outsell them in Japan anyways.

Sony wants to focus on Europe early because they believe Microsoft will be targeting that market hard.

You guys can try this if you reserved on announcement day and ended up with the standard edition via Amazon.

So, I basically reserved a PS4 immediately after the announcement before there were different editions. I told my roommate about it a few hours later and he went ahead and did the same.

He received an email confirming that he would have the 'launch' edition and I didn't. I thought that was weird because I reserved mine well before he did.

I chatted with a rep online and basically asked if it was a random selection (initially) because I should have had the launch edition if they are basing the selection off of a first come first serve basis.

Anyways, he changed my standard edition to the 'launch' edition. :pimp:

Also how ridiculous is it that they just made a video for some dude's tweets.

They still had them available for pre-order for a guaranteed launch day at my GameStop. The guy actually said there were quite a few left when I went to pick up The Last of Us.

Are you sure that you intially preordered the launch edition instead of the standard edition.

Also, from my understanding, they started sending those emails out when the launch edition was sold out.

So if you initally preordered the launch edition, you wouldn't recieve that email.

Reserved a PS4 at my local Gamestop..Dude said they have quite a few more since they've received stock from other stores around the area since the demand is higher at that location..

Yeah I had the standard edition initially.
 
So the PS4 willnot be backwards compatible. Will there be a PS4 version of GTA 5? I only own 4 games. I am way behing the curve I just bought the first Kane and Able and Uncharted.

Too busy with life to game, but now that school is over I will get into it more. Really no reason for me to have a PS4. I still got a bunch of stuff to play on my 3. I really wanna play Watch Dogs (reason for my preorder).
