The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I had a nightmare last might that my preorder had been canceled and my amazon account had been closed down.

I woke up in panic,

If that's a nightmare then your dreams must be magical

It's just video games man, you'll survive if that's the worst case scenario.

Day before thanksgiving is the 27th.

Thanks for the correction, I looked at my calendar wrong. I still meant the day before thanksgiving, and got the date wrong, but with that being later than usual, I cant really see them giving themselves less than a full month before Xmas.

If that's the date I think it is (can't really tell on my phone) Aisha Tyler named that as the current gen date on Fallon the other night. Although I can't imagine the new consoles would be too far behind. I keep thinking its 11/13 or 11/20 (day before thanksgiving) at the latest.

The release date says November 19th, that falls right in between when you "think" it's going to release.. When I reserved mine I asked shorty about COD since it wasn't on the paper with the day1 games and she said she expects it to be out the same week if not the week after the ps3/360 release. So I think that release date is right..

Well it seems pre-orders are running slow. I read that some stores had not max out there og allotments and subsequent allotments. Sony may be in a situation where supply may out strip demand. Sony may be seeing pending a surplus.
lol pre-orders running slow? How are you concluding this.

It seems pre-orders at gamestops are just getting reallocated. Sony is just in the beginning stages of shipping components for manufacturing consoles, and they have 5 months to get the allocation for pre-orders right. They have adjusted their forecast already, and any details we have now can't give us any clue what will happen in fall.

These retailers were just taking pre-orders with a low estimate on how many consoles they would get. Gamestop corporate would tell each store how many. Sony gave them the okay to take on more pre-orders, means that Sony plans to make enough consoles for them.

In terms of surplus, I'm sure Sony would rather have 6 million units shipped and 5.5 million sold, than have 5 million ship and only 5 million sold. As many people out there that want a PS4 over X1, there are some that are also going to get both. And if they were planning to get PS4 first and it's sold out they may just switch and just get X1 first. Either way I highly doubt they will have a massive surplus of units out there. And Gamestop won't be the place to find it, since it seems each store is only gonna get the units that they have preorders for. For buying on release day w/o preorder you would be best off trying Walmart or Best Buy, and even then good luck.

Why would slowly depleting pre-order supplies be a bad thing for us consumers anyway? Unless you work for Sony, the slower the better.

It wouldn't be. Taking pre-orders for 5 months would be >>>> taking pre-orders for 5 days.

GT didn't even nominate MGS V for game of show, based on the technicality that it wasn't playable or shown in a live demo. So? We've already seen it running in real time.

But, I guess it's never too early for game journos to start sucking on the teet of Respawn.

PS4 PlayStation Plus Details: Cross Game Chat doesn’t require the service

We have some new details on PS Plus for the PS4. It will be required to play online but not for free-to-play games or MMOs. One subscription will grant access to all accounts on that system.

Cross game chat and other media functions won’t require the subscription. This includes services like Netflix.

Games will be added and removed just like the current subscription on PS3 and you will be getting one new PS4 game every month. It’s not clear whether it would be a PS Plus edition like DriveClub which has altered content.

The subscription isn’t required for automatic updates. It will cost $50 or $5 per month. It’s something you pay for PS Plus already on PS3 so it really isn’t a surprise.

The PS4 will be released sometime later this year and according to some retailer listings in Europe, it could be out on November 13.

Check out the video below by PS Access which goes in-depth into the subscription for PS4.

I always stand my consoles horizontally. I don't trust standing them upright vertically. A lot of wall units with shelves dedicated to media players are meant for horizontal placement as well.

Witcher 3 looks dope. I love that clip when he fights the bird things and the weight transfer between swings of his sword. Combat in that game looks fun as hell!

What is that fighting game where dude face planted that chick in the water? Was that a new Virtua Fighter?

Yes they were moving allocations to better selling GS's. Now Sony has told GS to pre-sell as many as you can until further notice. I assuming all these additional units are RD units. Before Sony said this GS's allocations were still available in some stores. Combine that with Sony's move, I say preorders are moving slow. Any time the flood gates are open thats high indication of surplus supplies. Its common sense. Sony is seeing how many are coming out of the factory and the number of preorders and see the preorders are not moving fast enough.

I am going on the assumption that all these units GS are preordering are launch day or even before christmas units. If not then my idea is mute.
