The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

The only issue I ever had with the PS3 controller was making L2 and R2 pressure sensitive without having them curve outward.

If you've been gaming on different consoles and not on the PlayStation, you're probably used to another style of controller because you've used it more. The same way PC people prefer keyboard and mouse. They've just become accustomed to it. I don't like using my middle, ring, and index finger on the WASD keys for movement over a traditional D pad or analog stick. One style isn't better than the other.

I've used the PS controller for like 15 years. I like the parallel analog sticks for player and camera movement. Always preferred the separated buttons on the D pad to the disc on the 360. The flatter face buttons for action games. Never liked pressing the marbles on Xbox controllers. Couldn't do tricks like using my sleeve and swiping over the buttons to beat the torture test in the original Metal Gear Solid. Didn't feel right when playing hack and slash action games like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, or Prince of Persia on the Xbox.

Damn near every modern gaming controller is an amalgamation of the original PlayStation controller anyway. Built in force feedback, dual analog sticks, 4 face buttons, and 4 shoulder buttons.

It wasn't built in, but the Rumble Pak did it first. I'm just saying the modern game controller layout is still a derivative of the original PS controller.

The Playstation controller doesn't need to have a huge overhaul. I've been playing with the controller since the ps1. I know the layout like the back of my hand and my hands have never cramped.

Right on, gotcha, and agreed. I remember getting sweaty *** hands and them slipping on the PSone, but it's a solid controller layout.

To people who dislike the ds3, you can buy a ps3 controller that has the design of a 360 controller.
I'd post the name of it, but I'm on mobile.

You can even buy adapters that allow you to use a 360 controller on a ps3.

Supposedly, this is true.
But I have not seen this first hand.

seeing black flag on 6 platforms told me everything i needed to know about these initial 3rd party games

This,

Thank goodness for the exclusive games.

SMALL WAS ONLY PART OF THE PROBLEM. THE FEEL OF THE PLAYSTATION CONTROLLER JUST NEVER FELT RIGHT COMPARED TO THE XBOX CONTROLLER. NEEDS A COMPLETELY NEW DESIGN IN MY OPINION.

That's what they've done. It's a completely new redesign which peopl have been raving about.

WE WILL SEE WHEN I GET BOTH SYSTEMS IN ON RELEASE DAY. I WILL BE COMPARING THEM FOR MYSELF.

My bad. The original DualShock. I actually have an original PS controller with no force feedback or analog sticks. Always made my friends use it.

yeah I sold 9 for 130...it's better than nothing but it's still a huge rip off. I literally bought one of them for 60 bucks 5 weeks ago for my summer class and the resell value was only 3.
