The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

You guys like trophies that much?

 I do enjoy getting them, but it wouldn't stop me from playing a game. It was more of a joke, as ddouble is a PS3 thread regular who knows of my love for trophies.

Games like Resistance, Valkyria Chronicles, MGS4 before the patch all didnt have trophies and it didnt effect anything for me. The addition of trophies, for me anyway, just lengthens the gameplay experience and gives me something to always be playing toward.

I only get trophies or achievements on accident. I might of actively tried to get a trophy on purpose a looooong time ago in like Warhawk or something, but they add nothing to games for me. People play terrible games multiple times just to collect trophies for bragging rights. I know someone who's a huge trophy *****.

Was hoping that Into the Nexus was for PS4, but it's $30 and a full fledged Ratchet game for the PS3. Plus it's going to provide closure on the Future Saga. I'm still going to buy it. Sony should of announced it at E3 instead. When they showed PS3 and Vita games before the PS4.

This is the case for me as well. The beating level x trophies or completing the game on the setting just above normal trophies are the majority of mine. Never felt any sense of motivation to replay something for other trophies.

Also agree on the Ratchet and Clank announcement being way more hyped than it needed to be. It's just another Ratchet and Clank game on a current gen console. IGN keeping quiet about it and all that was incredibly unnecessary. Had me here hoping for some huge new IP, or some mind boggling new hardware feature reveal for the PS4 or something

 I knew that reaction was coming.

I love Trophies, they just feel like an integral part of gaming nowaadays but they don't make or break a game but they certainly do add something to it if done right..

I've got Valkyria Chronicles and Folklore in the backlog and those don't have any trophies but I'm not bothered.

I never really got into trophies, it just took to damn long to come to PS3, so I didnt even care but it is cool when that tone goes off and that trophy pops up

i hope theres a tone when you recieve a message. i couldnt stand that and ended up seeing messages days later cuz when im focused in a game like COD i wont notice the pop up msg.

Anybody else feels like their Amazon preorder isn't real because they haven't took any money out of their account and you constantly check your order status now that they're sold out?

Don't even worry.. They'll never take your money out until they ship.. But this is also why I pre-ordered at Gamestop :pimp:

yeah I know that but it just doesn't feel real. I wanted to order at gs but Amazon was tax free

^ Amazon is a top notch online realtor. They wouldn't take your preorder if it wasn't a legit transaction. Also the very fact that they sold out of launch day systems should be telling as well.

Put your fears to rest good sir.

I wanted to order from amazon but I know I'll be at work when it comes same with my girl.. I don't trust that brown box at the door people gonna be on the lookout for them ****

Thanks man I've been looking at my preorder invoice like crazy I'm thinking about letting my girl change my password and lock me out from my account so I won't check again

Just posted in the PS3 thread about a New version of Street Fighter 4 that just got announced at EVO.

The full announcement is tomorrow but it's coming out next year so it won't surprise me if it will be coming to PS4 as well and you know what that means.

Amazon is the truth!

Don't even sweat it.

Probably had to sign a NDA. Break one of those and its your ***. Especially if you're in the journalist side of the gaming industry... for the most part

Makes sense. I'm just bitter because I was hoping that the announcement was for something I'd consider more important

Or at least PS4's first Ratchet and Clank game.

Is a bundle for a ps3 with uncharted 3 another bonus game and a year of ps plus worth it at this time?
PS3 came out 7 years ago I believe. That means there is 7 years worth of good gaming titles ready to be played.  You can probably find really good games for as little as $20, maybe less if you look on Craigslist or something like that. Also Sony supported the PS2 for way after its lifecycle ended. I dont see why they would stop supporting the PS3 for at least a couple more years. Plus with no BC on the PS4.... and the PS3 doesnt seem like such a bad investment

Mark Cerny: They know how to design PS4 so it wont overheat

Gamereactor Spain caught up with Mark Cerny shortly after he delivered his Road to PS4 presentation at this year's Gamelab in Barcelona.

As part of a longer GRTV interview, which will be shown in full this Sunday on the site, we asked Cerny how the PlayStation 4 would cope with the intense summer heat that Spain's currently sweltering under.

"I think it will be fine," he replied. "They know how to design the console so it doesn't overheat. If you notice that PlayStation 4 is smaller, it's because power consumption is less; simple as that."

You can watch the full interview this Sunday, in which Cerny also talks about how the PS4 design philosophy is different from its predecessors, how game creators have been offering feedback for the past five years, and why DLC will likely be a major part of next-gen.

PS was created because Nintendo stabbed Sony in the back (and so did SEGA)

Highlights:

"It’s a well-known fact that the PlayStation started life as an add-on for the Super NES. Sony and Nintendo didn’t see eye-to-eye, though, and the latter stabbed its would-be ally in the back by announcing a partnership with Philips.

However, before opting to go it alone, the manufacturer actually tried to strike a deal with SEGA."

"Fascinatingly, SEGA actually agreed, and it formed a developer called Digital Pictures..."

"All that Kalinske had to do was convince the people at the top of SEGA’s board – but they were having none of it. “They basically turned me down,” remembered the ex-industry veteran. “They said: ‘That’s a stupid idea, Sony doesn’t know how to make hardware. They don’t know how to make software either. Why would we want to do this?’ That is what caused the division between SEGA and Sony, and caused Sony to become our competitor and launch its own hardware platform.”"

Quote #1

"Two European retailers are promising a PS4 release date of November 13th. Media Markt and Bol.com both quote the date, while another source says budgetgaming.nl received Sony promo material saying the same."

Quote #2

"Doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll have to launch on that date, but at least it’s not a date fabricated by stores and this date comes directly from Sony NL."
