The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

i just cant get into assassins creed i gave it to many tries and always end up putting it down within 30 minutes and never going back to it

Assassin's Creed is just doing chores until you can kill a Templar. There's no fun in between. Which is crazy when it's an open world game you can parkour in. The combat system is weak. You have to do these canned animation execution kills one-by-one. It should be more free form.

Just finished Last of Us, recommend to all before making the shift to PS4

Heads up ! If your thinking about selling your PS3 to put towards a PS4 and have a PS4 pre ordered at your local store, you can put the trade in money you will get towards your PS4 pre order.Or if you just haven't gotten around or just haven't decided yet.Gamestop re opened their allotment and are taking PS4 pre orders again and are still saying people will get one on launch day.

Gamestop is the only retail store I know that will let you slowly pay off your balance on a pre ordered console, console accessories, or any game.

Here is Gamestop's current promo right now

SCEE president and CEO Jim Ryan said a while back that the plan was to space out announcements, following it up by adding: “There’s a lot coming. I’m sure you heard from Shu [Yoshida] that he has, just his studios, he has 30 games in development. 20 are going to ship within the console’s first year of life, and of those 12 are new IPs… There’s a lot going on, it’s just we need to keep stuff back. We’ve Gamescom for us Europeans, and we need to have something to show at Gamescom don’t we?!”

Assuming that the so far announced first party games are part of the 30 strong line up (Driveclub, Hohokum, Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, MLB 14: The Show, The Order: 1886 and Super Stardust HD 2) that leaves 22 new Sony games in total. Of those, 8 will be new IPs if Hohokum, The Order 1886, Driveclub and Knack are part of that 12 Ryan mentions (and Sony aren’t including The Playroom as a full game).

Rumor: Xbox One to reportedly launch November 29th, beating PlayStation 4′s December 13th debut.

No way HELL there is any truth to this Bull Shiet. Yeah seriously both Sony & Microsoft are going launch the PS4 & Xbone after Black Friday

Come 8-20 when Gamescom happens both official launch dates for each console will be revealed.

Sony already has the advantage like they did at E3 by letting Microsoft do their press conference first the same day.

At Gamescom Sony already reserved their press conference for 7PM local Germany Cologne time that day, which means Micrsosoft will have to do their press conference earlier that same day.No way they could hold out and do their press conference 2 or 3 hours later local time after Sony is done with theirs.

Now that Microsoft has done away with the controversial new policies it announced during the Xbox One’s unveiling, gamers are coming around and anticipation is mounting. Pre-sales of the console have been “through the roof” according to Microsoft, and some expect Xbox One sales to crush sales of Sony’s rival PlayStation 4 console. Now, if a new leak ends up panning out, the Xbox One will have another big advantage over the PS4: Two full weeks of sales before the PlayStation 4 launches this winter.

This is just...total BS.

Will this be televised or live stream?

^I was thinking that perhaps it was a typo and meant XB1 Oct. 29th & PS4 Nov. 13th.

The dates may be true (most likely just placeholders), but the xbone anticipation mounting and some expecting the xbone to crush the ps4 in sales? Come on. Who's this guy fooling? And a 2 week sales advantage means absolutely nothing considering the 360 had a year on the ps3 and they're pretty much even now.

Gamescom and that Gamestop sponsored convention in Las Vegas later this month is pretty much Microsoft's last chances early in this console gen to save face and try to clean their mess up after dropping the ball at their reveal event in May and their HORRIBLE showing at E3 this year.

-They have a lot to cover and to try and educate people about their reversal on DRM policies, used game sales policy, and the 24 hour internet check in policy.
-Then they have to clear up their mess after yet backtracking and changing their approach to indie developers.
-Then they still have to pitch the actual games for the system.Outside of the hardcore gamers most people still think it's a mostly all in one entertainment device mainly.

Like I said when I went to the San Diego Comic Con this year many people at the convention were very confused and didn't know about Microsoft's reversal and change of plans to the Xbone policies.E3 was very still much in peoples memories.Which is understandable since it was only a little over a month since E3 was held.

Fact is Microsoft has not been a big fan of Gamescom in the past.Heck the last time they actually held a press conference their was back in 2005

Microsoft has not staged a large public-facing event there since the announcement of Xbox 360's launch price back in 2005.

Another rumor going around lately is that if Microsoft has another a bad showing at these 2 conventions they will seriously consider dropping the price of the Xbone down to $399.99 by the time the console launches this year.

Anyone know if the PS4 will allow in game music/custom soundtracks or does xbox still have that feature on lock?

From my understanding(which is not much), microsoft patented in game music so sony has to have developers allow ps3 or ps4 owners in their specific game.

This could be true or not true. I read about this in this thread actually. I didn't bother to verify if what he said was actually true, so take this post with a grain of salt.

see but just like bluray technology im sure M$ isnt the only person with the patent so idk why they cant use it

Microsoft does own a patent, but Sony is able to get around it by going game to game, rather than system wide.

Not a huge issue for me, I usually have a laptop or my computer near me when I'm playing.

I never really used that feature on my 360 because it doesn't just replace the music in the game, but goes over everything. It was also a hassle to transfer music to my 360 compared to the PS3.

maybe im alone on this but the music feature doesnt bother me at all, i actually rather have the game sounds playing..:rolleyes

Only time I've ever used it was for racing games.

My friend uses it when he plays COD. I don't know how the hell he does it. I need to hear everything.
