The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

What do people expect in regards to ps4 owner's feelings about Titanfall. Of course they're going to downplay it. There is zero reason to be hyped. It's not coming to PS4. EA/ Respawn thought everything would be all gravy with this exclusive deal thinking Xbone was going to be the leader at this point. They guessed way wrong.

Will that tune change if/when Titanfall 2 gets announced for PS4? Most likely. Until then, expect indifference.

I trust nothing EA does. The game itself is pretty good though.

I think TF should just stay on X1, for some odd reason I hate when sequels jump to other platforms

I wish Respawn could just give PS4 a different IP but I know that isnt gonna happen

AC4 was just too damn boring for me. I kept telling myself that it would get better (it has pirates, how could it not?) but I just couldnt get over sailing all thos miles, think Im done with the AC franchise, haven't really liked it since AC2, Brotherhood wasnt too bad either
Fast Travel is your friend.

Better gameplay of inFAMOUS from a dev who knows what he's doing.

That FFX HD LE :pimp:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Release Date Delayed to 2015
"The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious."
by Luke Karmali MARCH 11, 2014
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been delayed until February 2015 so CD Projekt Red can make sure it reaches its full potential

In an open letter, the developer explained the team's ambition to make the game the crowning achievement of 11 years work creating RPGs meant it was not prepared to rush the game out the door.

"We have wanted The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to expand creative boundaries, set new benchmarks, develop the genre as a whole. Ultimately, you, the players, must get an unforgettable adventure to experience in a vast, open world – and that’s most important," it reads.

A few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us.

"We knew this to be an ambitious plan, but believed we could achieve it by bringing together our team with its creative energies and current gaming platforms with their technical capabilities. A project this vast and complex would inevitably require special care in its final stages, manual fine-tuning of many details, thorough testing time and again.

"We recently reexamined what we had achieved thus far, and faced a choice about the game’s final release date. The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious. We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned. Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. Consequently, we have set the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for February 2015.

"Dear gamers - we know many of you would have liked to play The Witcher 3 sooner, as soon as possible, even. We’re sorry to make you wait longer than you, or we, initially assumed you would. At the same time, we believe the game will prove to be worth the wait and meet the expectations you have of us. We believe The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be an exceptional RPG, one of the best, providing many hours of wonderful entertainment."

Seeing as the upcoming RPG will have over 100 hours of content along with and an all-star cast, it isn't surprising that CD Projekt Red is taking its time to make sure the game is all it can be.

While the wait just got longer, we've plenty of coverage to keep you busy, from how the developer is focusing on fostering a sense of mysticism rather than bombastic effects, to the latest details that convince us this is one title that's well worth the wait.
Good. I like that they're taking time to perfect it.

It sucks seeing people on my friends list playing Dark Souls 2 and I have to wait till tomorrow/thursday to get my copy. :frown:
Amazon Prime let me down for once.

Reviews have been great.

Ahhhhh, this is not a ps4 title? Would've thought about purchasing.

****

I decided to hold out for the PC version. It's the Dark Souls of waiting to play a highly anticipated game.

I had it in my mind that Ground Zeroes was out today, too.

It's next week.

I read a spoiler on accident.

i dunno why people in here are saying im salty. i have a 360, if i wanted titanfall that bad id just get it over there whenever xbox is done trying to force people to by the xbox1 to get it. honestly, seeing the REAL unbiased reviews on twitter is hilarious. all u see is this:

1. SO HYPED ABOUT TO GET TITANFALL AND SKIP WORK! 5hrs ago

2. WHOS ONLINE BOUT TO START NOW 4hrs ago

3. THIS GAME IS SOOOOOOOO CRAZY! 4hrs ago

4. well, the game is great but, i think it was a tad overhyped. 2 hrs ago

5. i kinda expected more... think im burnt out. 1 hr ago

i didnt even know it was 6 on 6 for ALL modes. that is shameful. im bout to head home and try to get on bf. i swear switching from cod to bf has a steep learning curve. these sniper rifles are NOT treating me well. i never imagined itd take more shots in bf to kill someone with a sniper rifle than cod.

Beat Lightning Returns this afternoon. Will post some thoughts (probably too many) later tonight.

Some thoughts on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy.

All story elements will be in spoilers (in addition to the spoiler below). I apologize for any spelling, grammar, ect. Also if I seem overly critical when compared to the score, it's just because I am a pessimist. A 7.5 is what I feel it should get from me. I just may not articulate it that well.

If you don't want to read it, I'd personally give the game an 7.5/10 and say its a solid RPG. I'd recommend playing it if you like the genre.

I'll try and spilt this up a bit.

Story
This is what the reviews were complaining about. To be honest until about 3/4 of the way through I though the story was solid. As soon as
you find out about the Chaos being the exact opposite of what you'd thought it was the entire series
it starts to just unravel. The scenes immediately proceeding the final fight are good, but the post credit scene is very unexpected and a little strange.
So the killed God, created a new world, but that world is Earth? If so, that is a very strange ending unless they plan to continue this in XV.
Overall, its fairly simple to follow... you're basically Jesus trying to save all these peoples souls. Although I'd identify as Agnostic/Atheist/Apathetic, I do know the Christian bible well. The story was very interesting until it began to get so convoluted, trite, and predictable (even in it's twists) that I lost some interest.

That said, it still helped push the game along and thats all you really care about at the end of the day. I just think it could have been done alot cleaner, to the point, and with less fan fare.

Sidequests actually had some of the best dialogue and story in the entire game. Several had great, thought out sections that made me want to actually finish the occasional monotonous quest to see what would happen.

They made lightning likable! Never thought Id see the day. I was rooting for her the entire way.
Ironically, not having any feelings, she showed the most emotional range in the series

Graphics
What happened? This game looks AMAZING in some sections and laughably bad in others. The post-final battle sequence is so crisp and clean. Most scenes with Lumina are very well done. But then you get the odd NPC who looks hilarious. Like an FFX HD remaster character. Even Lightning goes from looking great in some in-game moments to really bad. The lip syncing even goes through the wringer on occasion.

Enemy models are very good, animations in battle are very good. Basically anything you look at while controlling your character is very well done. Its just some dialogue scenes that really make stand out when you compare it to the rest.

Gameplay
Where to start? Open world is promised from the beginning and it delivers. However these spaces which seem vast when you first arrive, quickly shrink when you discover them. To the point I was disappointed with how little exploration there was after your initial dive in. And 4 areas with only 2 being truely open... weak.

New Game + in the game leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. Id rather they throw in a bunch of optional bosses or a new area, or anything new than play through the exact same game and missions with upgraded equipment. Dont even get me started on the trophy for accessories. YOU WANT ME TO FIND THEM ALL TWICE? That's monotony in it's truest form. Hard mode offers nothing but trying to streamline your schema strategy. Yes, upgrade weapons and shields, but why? Why not make the game longer/bigger so I have something unknown to tackle, rather than have me rush through a game Ive experienced just for battle variation? That tells me that they knew they had a strong battle system but either didnt have the talent or the time to make me want to continue.

FF XIII, while it did a few thing poorly, it had an amazing way to add gameplay after the last story battle. This game is embarrassing asking me to play through again on a different difficulty rather than just giving me more.

That said, the one optional area
Ultimate Lair
is a joke. The other optional boss is fun and a great inclusion.

Battle system makes this game. Its fairly amazing. Its not without its rough edges, but it is awesome to be able to come into a fight and have several different ways to try to win. Some issues I had were the guarding. Not overly hard, but a pain to have to learn how to time each enemy/boss. Its important on 1st playthrough, basically impossible to win without it on any other. I could do without it, but I do see it's relevance. ALso, some of the equip-able items are useless. Not literally, but several schema, weapons, shields, and accessories can literally be used in a handful of fights and that is all. I loved experimenting, but unless I am missing something, a bunch of these (especially paid DLC  ) are useless.

Abilites were the same... alot were awesome and useful and let you have several methods to use in finding success. Some were literally there for 2-3 battles.

This is not an easy game, either. I played on Easy (EMBARRASSING!) and still died quite a bit. If you dont use the correct strategy, you're out of luck. The game does a good job of introducing stuff, except for schema. It touches on them, but there are so many intricacies it misses that you find out by trial and error. This may have been their intent, but it did cause me to fire up Google a dozen or so times. There are some vicious difficulty spikes
Caius, first trip to the Dunes, ect
.

The day thing isnt a huge deal. It is cool, especially for some sidequests, and the different times of day were neat to see. The whole time constraint thing was a bit contrived I thought.

I completed all quests but 2. Several were great, while the majority were good. A few were slogs to get through.

Loved the extinction aspect, but I thought 30 different enemies seemed very low. Id have liked more variety with less population to each.

I liked how it was similiar to XIV in terms of quests and open world, I just wish it was on that scale of enviroment variety. I know XIV has the advantage of being persistently online, updatable, ect... but LR:FF seems to pale in scope.

Music
Good. Not great, but definitely good. Love some of the smaller touches, with classic battle music making appearances in some parts. Hard to touch some of the classics, but I think it fit the game very well. Just not super memorable.

Overall
The game is good, but it could have been alot better. The environments, while huge and fun at first, start to get a little old as not alot changes as the game progresses. They were a bit lifeless at times, even with NPC's walking about.

Battles are really fun and even the smallest enemy had my attention with trying to stagger for abilities.

While I really enjoyed the first 12 hours, it never got better or changed much. It never got worse either... but thats not a positive. I just really wish theyd have focused on broadening the story, adding more enviroments post final boss, and added a little more variety to the quests.

Anyone has any questions, let me know.

Shoulda tagged me! I almost missed this

Props to @Cozypapi for the PM as well.
