The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Hoping FFX/X-2 HD does well so SE thinks about a XII HD version...:pimp:

It was discussed and shot down for this year. I was on a call the other day where it was talked about that X/X-2 outsold Lightning Returns and 13-3 first week in Japan

Sorry I've been MIA from this thread for a long time. I haven't been at work for over a month because of vacation and then recovering from surgery. Didn't even get to go to CES. :smh:

I Should be going back to work this Monday provided my doctor gives me the all clear today.

I was wondering what happened. You ok man?

Yeah I had to go into the hospital the day after X-mas and just got back to LA a few days ago. They ended up doing surgery removing my gallbladder. It was not a fun experience. 6-8 weeks of recovery time :x

I've been out of the loop for the past month with regards to anything gaming. Really wanted to disconnect during the break and come into the new year fresh. Thanks for checking in though, I appreciate it.

No problem man. I know we don't really know each other outside of here, but you've always been cool people. I'm glad that you're doing better.

I'm pretty excited for FFX/X-2. I think Square could make EASY money if they remastered FFVII, VIII, and IX. I still have my fingers crossed for Dragon Quest VIII.

Square already said that if they remade VII that would be their last game meaning everything else failed or somewhere along those lines. Gotta see if I can find that article.

Where did you hear that from?

I know Tabata said he would like to make a sequel but last I heard he was working on FFXV which everyone at SE should be

The reason that tweet gives me hope is because they asked what games we would like localised and Tales and Type-0 games got the most votes.
Namco already said the Vita tales games aren't getting localised and Type-0 is supposedly already translated into English so it should be the only option.

All I need now is for Hybrid to come and dash my dreams.
Just pulled the article, it was updated and proved to be a fake

I think Rockstar>Naughty Dog

Red Dead Redemption :smh: :x :smokin

imo they kill naughty dog with actual gameplay

I'm that values freedom over scripted stuff in games though

Red dead was alright to me I played it this year and it was just ok. I did feel a little bond with marston tho no romo because I played the zombie mode too

I literally kept red dead till the day i traded my system in. Loves the story and all the side quest weren't bad

Completely disagree.

GT is a slave to realism in terms of vehicles and how they perform. Forza, while looking better on X1, better menus, and much better sound, does have several issues in terms of accuracy. The amount of tracks is pretty bad, as is the number of vehicles compared to GT6. Forza, again, focuses on making each car looking amazing, while GT focuses on making them drive amazing.

Forza is a great series, and by all accounts F5 is a great game. Probably be the reason I buy an X1. But to say GT is not very good in comparison is inaccurate I believe.

More fun? Probably. Prettier? Obviously. But to the people who have a touch of OCD when it comes to cars, I believe most side with GT6.
I completely disagree. Forza is way more realistic. GT still cannot even get the sounds right and cars still have that sliding feel. They cut corners when it comes to design and premium cars or whatever. They last two games are not even complete. The game is amazing 30 percent of the time because corners were cut for the rest. It breaks my heart because I want it to be better.

Like I said in here once before the first Forza exposed GT4 and they have been behind ever since.

The irony is R* games have become increasingly scripted, mission-wise.

R* create amazing open worlds, but their mission design has gone down the tubes.

I mean, name some memorable missions from GTA IV / RDR/ GTA V.

...

...

...

I can't, really.

In the the PS2 GTA games (more so GTA 3 and VC) if you had a target to take out, you could do it as quick as you...could do it. Pull out a RPG and fire it at a car, blow it up, mission passed.

GTA IV : Chase invulnerable targets until you cross a pre-determined threshold, then you can take out the target. One that sticks out in particular was chasing some bikers on the train tracks.

RDR: The early stages of that game are painfully boring. Shoot rabbits in the garden. Ride horses slowly with Bonnie and carry out other mundane farm jobs. Then it's all "Ride a horse 5 miles while John and X shout things to one another, then take out waves of baddies." It was cool what they did at the end of the game, but the story and missions were pretty forgettable.

GTA V: Nothing particularly fun about the missions in that game. The heists were eh.

"Dress up as janitor to sneak into the building."

Okay, cool.

"Mop this dirt spot."

Um...alright.

"Mop this dirt spot."

...k

"Don't forget to bring your bucket."

Seriously?

"Ope, your mop is too dirty to clean this spot. Dunk the mop in your bucket."

AH COME THE **** ONNNN!

Don't get me wrong, I did have a lot of fun with each of those games, but I give the nod to Naughty Dog this generation. R* just got too into cramming lines of dialogue between missions.
