Sony's console could replicate record-breaking sales.

BY MIKE MAHARDYAccording to a recent study by Strategy Analytics, the PlayStation 4 is on its way to outpacing the Xbox One by 23 million in lifetime sales through 2018.

The Connected Home Devices report suggests that 80 million PS4 consoles will be in use by 2019, compared to 57 million Xbox One consoles –– that's a 40 percent higher installed base for Sony's new console. 2019 is near the projected peak for both consoles' life cycles, but there will be room for "modest future growth," Strategy Analytics says.

Last week, Sony told IGN 18.5 million PS4s have been sold since the console launched in November of 2013. The Xbox One has shipped an estimated 12.4 million units during the same period, according to the study. At those paces, the PS4 is closer to first-year sales of the PS2, which initially sold 20.1 million. The PS2 remains the best-selling console in history, moving 150 million units in its lifetime. The Nintendo Wii, coming in at second, sold more than 100 million.

Sony CEO Kaz Hirai recently expressed the company's future dependence on the PS4, citing Apple and Samsung's dominance as the main reason for Sony's slower growth in the smartphone sector. Hirai said plans involve expanding the PlayStation Network user base, as well as improving its music-streaming service.

If Strategy Analytics' recent report is accurate in four years, Sony's faith may be well placed.

Lol I'm not defending destiny, it's just funny folks who didn't really play it dislike it. Im not gonna say uncharted is overrated or boring when I barely played it, all im saying. It's not perfect but it offers plenty of hours of gameplay

I played it, i'm not going to take shots at a game if i never played it. And it wasn't even a shot, just my opinion. There are ppl who feel the same way, others don't.

Maaaaaaan i used to HATE ps4 recordibg mechanics but its really quite simple (if not cumbersome)

all u hace to do is get the record red icon to show up (for me its a double tap). If u bring that up again it doesnt mean u stopped recordging it means u began a new starting point for ur vid.

To stop recordibg u either wait for the recording to reach its time limit (i 4get whar yhe default is but i set mine to 15 mins), whereby itll say "video saved", OR u bring up the blue xmb-like share screen (for me its done by holding down tge share button) and then pressing square to save clip

Im beginning to truly see who i am

i think i was a general in my past life
I was someone of great prominence. i held a very high position and i either pissed it away or it was wrongly taken from me. i passed on (how fitting is it then, that throughout all this life aithority figures have always loved me. its those peers of mine who generally despise me)

but as it were, im used to ordering ppl around and getting my way. the only problem was i had far less self control than i have now. now? and now (meaning quite recently - like past 2 yrs or so recently) ive been able to cintrol myself, my anger, my opinion, my guidance, alot betta.

Having been nursed in the hood (and i mean hood, like 3rd world country hood) was of some help. and then i was taken into opulence again. massachusetts opulance at the age of three. Thus, began (unbeknownst to me) my struggle w. the extrememes. Im seeing it now for the very first time. Tonight. Pacing back and forth half playing and mostly listening to papo and yo.


i sometimes wondered if my direct mayan native original american ancestors were kings, royalty. Possibly. Maybe not. doesnt matta

What matters is you catch yourself, in those quiet moments and analyze
