The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

people in the X1 thread saying Gears has the best story in gaming.

Oh boy.

I really don't even get what was so confusing or hard about Infinite.

I honestly think that some people just don't pay attention and suck at games,

Man I haven't finished BioShock either  I started in Hard difficulty so it's a little challenging and like many others I don't know what the story is about. I do like the gameplay and the visuals and everything else. I'll finish it eventually, it was actually on my mind recently.

Been playing LR:FF, I suck so far. I fought my first boss and got ZERO stars :frown:

I don't recall any major flaws.

-Convoluted Story, that can't be understood without listening to every audio log.
-The gunplay is not that good. They should have made a decision between the Halo or Cod model.
-A boss fight where you fight the boss 3 times. You literally fight the ghost, go down the street to fight it again, then comeback and fight it again.
-Choices have no real consequences.
-A salts are cool to play with after you get them. But could have been cut down for the sake of keeping the essential ones
-The difficulty spike Zeppelin level is ridiculous. You literally have to master the gameplay to get through it. And the fact that players die over and over and over and over. Just shows the game didn't teach most players good enough. Forget which salt goes with which enemy, you will pay for it. Don't use the Skyline, you will pay for it. Even if it were just the ton of enemies I would be find with it. But I can't flank effectively because I gotta worry bout the generator/engine ****

That was me. And I said it has the best overarching story, (meaning how all the parts in the Gears world fit together), in gaming because it not convoluted while still being complex.

But I said the games themselves present story in a very, very ****** way. And I encouraged dudes to read a Gears novel to see what I meant

No, I'm just not going back and forth w/ someone who just typed "GoW has the best overarching story in gaming".

You say that like it is some crazy statement. You act like Gears has a bad story.

Gears story is simple, they gets more complex without every becoming convoluted. The problem is that the way the story is presented in the games.

But that was gone intentionally because Cliffy wanted the gameplay to take center stage. Which it did.

If you disagree, fine. But stop acting like I'm saying something outrageous.

ToysRUs, buy 2 for either $70 or $75, online or in store. They have some decent games too.

I thought i was stupid for not understanding the Bioshock Infinite story.

I'm up to the part where the slaves dropped me off from my ship. I have not a clue what's going on

How can you say that using the audio logs in Bioshock to flesh out the story is a flaw while simultaneously defending the bad storytelling in GoW by recommending some novels?

Collecting the logs (and learning the backstory through them) has been a key aspect of all the Bioshock games. That's something that everyone should have expected going into it.

And personally, I don't think the story was any more confusing or hard to understand than any other work of fiction that uses time travel as a plot device.

If you guys were displeased by Bioshock Infinite's story, check out an anime called Stein's Gate.

If you watch the anime, you'll realize why I reccomended it.

The story is emotional. The ost is good.

By episode 8, I was hooked.

4/5
