Originally, it was pre-order only; they've now changed it to an open beta. Also, all the missions/free roam take place in the same map. If you start a mission, you'll be in the same world as people who are free roaming, except you'll have an objective. However, once you get to a certain point in the mission, the game will say "respawning restricted", at that point you and whoever you started the mission with will be placed in their own isolated world. But to answer your question, yes, it is free roam to a extent. Definitely, check it out, it's a great game.

I don't think the segments are that similar. You have kids who buy COD no matter what. I don't think most of them are playing Destiny. Now granted COD numbers are going down but I think thats more fatigue than other games

You're correct. Bungie has a 10 year publishing deal with Activision.

its going to have an expansion next year, followed by Destiny 2 the next year. So While not full fledged games, yearly, its going to be a continuing yearly content stream

$ony will probably add external hdd support in the future since m$ already did it.

A 4tb external can be had for $150, while a 1.5tb internal is $135.
