The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

I still feel like Titanfall wasn't a lifetime exclusive until they made the announcement that it was. They went maybe five months since the reveal using lingo that sounded like anything but an exclusive. They also needed good PR before the X1 launched because the PS4 dominated the pre-orders. If it wasn't locked up after the fact, why wouldn't they just come out the gate saying it's a lifetime exclusive?

EA didn't need Microsoft to fund that game. EA is one of, if not the largest game publisher, who have funded a multitude of multi-million dollar projects. Titanfall would of been made with or without Microsoft's involvement.

EA did fund the game, to be a multiplatform title on 360 and PS3.

Respawn wasted EA's money, and had little to show for it. Then Respawn wanted to move it to next gen. But EA didn't want to pick up the cost by themselves after that

It made good business sense of EA to cut their losses and cancel the game.

I mean would you give more money to a team that you already gave millions and had lil to nothing to show for it. Especially when you have been burned the same way before. A couple times in fact

Sony had the chance to get the game on PS4, they passed on opportunity. They didn't want to share details about the PS4 to Respawn or cut the check

Without MS's money, Titanfall probably never makes it to market.

Why didn't EA or Microsoft say out of the gate that Titanfall was a lifetime exclusive if that's the story?

A new shooter with mechs and parkour from the guys who created Call of Duty wasn't going to make it to market? So EA went to Sony and asked for money and they didn't want to cut the check? I mean, this is EA. They still ended up funding and releasing Overstrike Fuse after all of the changes and makeovers that game went through.

It wasn't out the gate, everyone knows that, MS locked that up afterwards.

And with FUSE, the changes were requested by EA. And those devs hit their targets.

Respawn literally wasted EA's money, and even Jason West the president and game director of the company said that Titanfall had deserved to get cancelled based on how development was going.

Yeah, EA was just going to let the creators of COD, the biggest franchise of the previous gen, let their new game just die. :rolleyes EA bet on the wrong horse out of the gate. IF they had any clue the PS4 would smoke the xbone out of the gate Titanfall would've been on the PS4. Didn't one of those guys send out a tweet that they didn't expect Titanfall to be full exclusive? They had planned to release it on xbox first then PS later?

Doesn't matter anyway, the game didn't do what MS wanted and the next one will be on PS4.

-Go research what happen with the Metriod Prime devs and EA.

Cancelling the game and walking away was definitely an option.

-Vampella tweet that the found out second hand that MS had locked up full exclusivity, confirming that the original deal was just timed.

-Betting on the wrong horse . MS funded the game, had a huge marketing budget for the game, EA got money in the exclusivity deal, MS picked up the bonus payments to Respawn for the first year (i.e, most of bonus money that would have to be paid), and MS aided in development. Oh yes, sounds like a horrible deal for EA :rolleyes

UPDATE 7/10/14 11.40am: Ubisoft has told Eurogamer that Assassin's Creed Unity's final technical specifications for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are actually still to be locked down.

The backtracking

I would understand why people would think MS has a hand in this I.e forcing indie devs to agree to launch parity clause, but this is Ubisoft Being Ubisoft.

So all this Drive Club hype and the game sucks. Forza and Forza Horizon kill this game in EVERYWAY. Amazing how that works. Where is Chris with all those Drive Club gifs? Go back and track what I've said since day one and you'll see I constantly said Drive Club looks pathetic. Same as Destiny. Feels amazing to be spot on.
